Hello, I'm using Template 89 from the free templates from the Zymic site. One of the reasons why I chose this template is it's look and the login area. This is a good template. Thanks to the designer and coder for putting this template together!

However, I now have a question:
How can I use the login box area from the index page and have it be able to login the user to the forum from there?

Here's my forum:
http://vtplan10.uuuq.com
forum: (PHPBB3)
http://vtplan10.uuuq.com/forum

This site is for school. I'm getting this ready for next year. (Sept. 09).

EDIT: Yes, I did read the Registration & login forum topic, and I don't think it applies here. Correct me if i'm wrong..
EDIT2: here's the topic link i read: http://www.zymic.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4034

thx swordz, but I'm not using .php as my homepage, it's .html
Here's where I found how to login outside of the forum--
http://wiki.phpbb.com/External_Login
this worked, but only to login to the forum. I now need to find some way to make it show basic info after logging into the forum

EDIT: you can see what i did by clicking on the link in my signature.
I want that login box at the top-right to show basic info after logging in to the forum.
Any ideas? Note that i use html-not php-as my homepage file.

Without php this is not possible.

Change your homepage file extension to .php. Once you've changed all the incoming links, it should work as it currently does.

Maybe you can test this and find out and reply back with the answer?

Just change the file extension. index.html -> index.php

It's that easy? no changing anything inside the (html) file?
swordz
No - without the php tags it assumes everything is html. This then allows you to put some php code in though.

Swordz, the link you gave me earlier was a bit confusing, so i looked around the phpbb forum a bit and found this topic. It helped me out, and i also asked them to help me out a bit.

For all those people who uses this (or any other template that has a login box somewhere in the template, I think this should solve your problem!
