I didn't say justice. I said punishment. wink.gif
Learn to respect opinion. I think your disapproval of citizen-based justice is fucking sick, because you'd rather let a man's livelihood go down the shitter than two criminal scumbags lose their lives, consequently preventing future crimes. Seems warped to me, but I can respect where you come from even if I don't agree with it.

That aside, I am in the firm belief that if people are on someone else's property (especially your own, Libertarianism lol) without permission and with every intent to bring harm in any way, shape or form into someone's life, it is within your right to stop them by force, and if this includes killing then so be it - as long as it is an absolute certainty. This would never pass in real life though.

With the state of the police these days and the bureaucracy surrounding justice, taking the law into your own hands is a good idea, even if the courts don't like it.

I agree, but the old whit man could of warn them he had a gun and if they didn't stop he would shoot, but still if they ignored him the first time about calling the cops then fine kill them.

After doing some research I found out HOW expensive the death penalty is -- turns out it's far more expensive than life imprisonment. Obviously it's not the death itself, but the appeals process & surrounding legal framework. Which is why I believe it should only be used for consistent offenders; cases in which it will save money and time in the long run.

i was shocked that no-one had allready posted this (and i was going to post it ~ damn you tongue.gif).

Consequently, if, in the UK, a life sentence MEANT a life sentence, I would not support the death penalty at all.

again, i was going to make this point.

Someone said these people should be isolated from each other; i disagree, make life life, bung them all in one open compound and let them make their own rules based on their individual values, see how long they last. Oh and post an army around the outside to shoot any escapess (with non fatal rounds ofcourse wink.gif) and to escort them back .. that'll sort the problem and probably work out cheaper for the taxpayer

Sounds like a good idea in my opinion smile.gif

yeah I now think if it comes down to it elementry text books are better then killing a guy that could just be imprisioned for the rest of his life...

Loool. Some of you guys are pretty harsh ;p
Death isn't the punishment for a robbery, now, is it?

Why was race bought into it anyway (two black, one white? lolol) - seems somewhat unecessary.
The story would've still worked out the same if you removed all the 'black' and 'white' from it.

Anyhoo,

Personally I believe that humans are incapable of justice. Everyone has a different perception of the world, bias is a large part of any legal system. I believe that some crimes are worthy of death, like genocide, for example. However, this is just my opinion, my 'bias'. The words 'opinion' and 'bias' are almost interchangeable.

Whatever your opinion, it is biased, not justice.

A more systematic approach would be better...

e.g.

"But let your words be simply, Yes or No: and whatever is more than these is of the Evil One"
Quote from bible (because it is very logical if you take time to read it).

Although in terms of passing a judgement it would be more like:
Is theft wrong?
Is killing wrong?

Yes and Yes - but even though they're both wrong, what about the circumstances?? The old man had good intentions, but then the robbers might also have had good intentions.
---------------------------------------------------
It has now passed the point to which humans can pass justice correctly, and after this point everything becomes opinion/bias.

And then the little rabbit laughed at the big rabbit's logic and died. The End.

Thought I might aswell post because I'm bored biggrin.gif

i don't believe on death penalties. human are created in the image and likeness of God. and as a catholic i strongly disagree on this because doing so is just like killing though there was a crime committed. it is only God who can decide whether its time for His child to be with him or should he stay on earth.

I don't believe in the death penalty. but people that do horrible and i mean horrible crimes like sexual child abused, should be punish according to what they did, so they can experience the same pain they cause to the person they harmed.

(just an opinion)

The death penalty is a synonym for barbarism. We're not in medieval times since a while...

it is law,

When person does an unforgivable crime, we want him/her to die so that other people will not do the same but if we do it we are no different because we ourselves become murderer and I don't think that it is a right judgement. I want the person suffer and regret everything he has done and swear to never do it again.

Capital punishment or death penalty is also illegal in some countries..
I have criminal make a crime then he/she should be death to the penalty...

However, I do believe in a second chance. Perhaps after they get busted 2 times and still keep doing what they aren't supposed to be doing, put them in the chair and plug it in. (I think Lethal Injection is not harsh enough)
