Full Version: [uuuq.com] Server Taken Offline For Approximately 24 Hours For Transfer - Now Online

Hi.

As you already know your sites are up, and mainly working with a few features still off line - you're all checking your sites, and we're letting things go back down to normal before we turn all features back on. But it won't be long.

We would appreciate you all checking your sites for missing files. We don't think there will be any (I'll be very surprised), but obviously the old server is now just extra cost, so we will be releasing it soon. So if you are missing files, we will be losing them soon.

However, it's more likely that your sites actually have MORE files than they used to. Any files deleted in the few days before the final transfer had already been transferred, so are still on the new server. Sorry about this, but it's better to have too many files than too few!

Obviously we're still watching things very carefully, to see how this server settles in. We're not expecting anything, but please let us know if something doesn't work that you think should, or vica versa.

Thanks for being patient over the last few days, it took a lot longer than we said it would and has been a lot less stressful because of your patience.

Hi.

The first of our disks is across, the others won't be long.

Sites beginning h-p should be back online.

Hi.

As you may have noticed, it's gone 24 hours, and we're still not back. This is simply due to the volume of data that changed since our initial rsync, mixed with more latency than we were expecting, causing our estimate to be wrong.

New estimate, 3 hours from 13:58 GMT+1.

Sorry about this delay.

Hi.

We have suddenly been given a short deadline by our hosters due to phishers using our service.

Because of this we need to move your sites across very quickly, and this is very hard to do while they are still active.

For this reason, uuuq is being taken offline very shortly.

We are very sorry for the short notice of this - we thought we had more time than we do. On the positive side, this should enable the transfer to take place much faster, as we don't have to worry about changing data.

We hope it should be over in 24 hours, this will also include the ZCP being back online.

Very sorry for this,

swordz

Hi.

For a while now we have had issues with our hosting provider for uuuq.com, and are now finalising a transfer to a new provider.

Having the ZCP still active complicates this process, so we have taken the decision to remove it for the time being.

This includes new site registration, file manager, phpmyadmin and phpminiadmin.

FTP and MySQL from your sites will STILL work.

The only exception to this is when your site is actually being transferred. During the transfer of your individual site, all your data will be locked, and the site will be taken off line. The period of this downtime depends on how much content you have uploaded, as obviously a larger site takes longer to transfer.

We are very sorry for this incovienience, and we hope it will last no longer than 3 days.

Just to reiterate, the only functionality that has been entirely lost for these 3 days is the creation of new mysql databases and users and adding custom domains. Everything else is possible, just not through the ZCP. This is only for uuuq.com.

I'll try to keep you posted on any developements.

thanks for the update so some of the features of ZCP will be unavailable, but for how long? till the transfer to new host is complete?

That's how long ;-)
swordz
The absolute answer is until it's complete. We estimate that this will take 3 days.

I think you can still use FTP though. I am using mine right now and I tried to log on to my PHPMyAdmin because I needed to edit my databases to work properly and that's when I found out about this.
swordz
FTP will be going down shortly when the dns is taken offline.

Ashton
I understand, I just hope it comes back online quickly wink.gif

Guys obviously you will not be able to do anything with the ftp and cp till it's done.
3e0 Programming
I just hope that they are done soon. Because i have just finished making the biggest version of my program. Version

CODE
THIS BETTER WORK because this information is VERRY VALUEABLE. IT IS UNRECOVERABLE

Banjo
While the sites are down you cannot access any of your files etc... or login to zcp. The transfer will take as long as it takes, patience is they key!
Tim McGee
Hey swordz and Banjo. Thanks for keeping us updated! I'm sure we all appreciate you guys cleaning out the phishers and we are all anxious to seeing uuuq back up and running how it should. At first I was being told by my viewers that my site wasn't coming up and I was worrying that we were ddosed again. Glad to see it's nothing severe and should be back up and running in the next few days!
Ibt-flash-games
is the server transferring on schedule???

Can't wait till its up running again!!

Got too much time on my hands right now laugh.gif
Qub1
Will the new server have Zlib support?
racsas
any news??
still waiting here.. unsure.gif
swordz
Sorry, it's night time GMT, so lots of us have been asleep.

No-one with server access has woken up yet - so I can't tell you up to date info - but last night we were just about on shedule, although it might be a bit tight. We'll do our best to stick to it.

The new server will not have Zlib support - the problem is not that Zlib isn't possible, it's just not safe with the script we have.

Your sites will be on line as soon as possible - we want them up as well!

Thanks for the continuity; I know Jack and the Zymic Team are working hard on this transfer.
I don't have any reasonable knowledge of the extensiveness or a frustration of the endeavor being undertaken here other than it appears as a necessary.

I really want to thank the ZYMIC's for addressing the situation on short notice, and, no doubt, the expertise they are employing to preserve materials of the webs they are transferring.
Kudos to everyone associated with this endeavor!

As a little side note for us "homesteaders": I have to acknowledge this expedited foreseen/unforeseen transfer of service may not go as planned and there may be a loss of information (some or whole) in some cases or instances due to unforeseen event(s) of/in digital, i.e., I'm sure that hiccups occur in the digital world just as accidents occur in the real world. (We have all lost data on our own computers, no doubt). I myself feel it a necessary evil (insurance) to ensure the quality of my files by having a complete personal backup of any and all data created by me for me and not relying upon anyone (any entity) else. Chance favors the prepared mind (in other words: prudence in having your web backed up for just such an emergency).

Thanks Jack & the Zymic Team, if it takes a little longer than anticipated I understand and know you are doing your best and then some - take the time to do it right the first time.

I would like to say that the VAST majority of files were already across - this final transfer is only the last 2 days of files. To be honest, we're quite impressed at the amount you've all managed to change in the last 48 hours!

If there is any data loss, which I doubt, it can be no more than 2/3 days.

That having been said, Zymic does recommend that EVERYONE keeps a copy of their data.

I am getting this while I log on to my site:

Server Transfer

This site is hosted by Zymic, a free website hosting service.

We are currently working to transfer sites over to a new server, please see here

This new server will reduce downtime and provide the flexibility for new features.

Please hang tight while this transfer is in progress.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Does this mean that my site is currently being transferred?
Are there any chances of loss of data? unsure.gif
swordz
All sites are currently off line due to the transfer - it simplifies the process a lot.

Read my above post about data loss - but there shouldn't be any.

swordz
conspirat
swordz, i hope my site will just show up better after this unsure.gif .. thanks for the great hosting service! wink.gif

So it means that the site is transferred into the new server and no data loss will occur during the transfer right? smile.gif

I think it may be difficicult to maka a copy of our site if FTP 's down... lol
I hope it'll come back soon.
If the service you provide is best after that, I agree.

Well I'm not sure because I was using my FTP in the afternoon yesterday so not sure if the DNS was changed or not but it was working for me but today it's down.
swordz
BUMP - Updated 1st post.

Workish - As you've uploaded all the files, you should have a local copy anyway... The only thing to download is db's.

thanks for the update, hope all others will be online soon smile.gif
Mallet
h-p means sites beginnging with h through p, am I right? So you're doing this alphabetically?

I have a site starting with H but cannot FTP.
swordz
We're sorting ftp now.

We have the sites organised onto 3 disks. The middle disk finished first, so is back on line.

My site is back up but my phpbb3 forum isn't loading. I get a "Connection Interrupted" page when I try to access it.
