I just installed Drupal. I ran fine but I need to change the default settings for the theme. When I tried to change the color settings, I received the following error:
http://hussam.pastebin.com/f13586407
Is this because of php restrictions?
I did check using the control panel that write permissions are set correctly.

it might be.... try setting the directory and files need to 777

I've already tried that. But it still wouldn't work.

EDIT:. Any alternatives to drupal that actually work including customizing the website?

DRUPAL 6.0 works well here.

Changing colours would suggest you were/are using the Garland theme. The changes are saved in the "files" sub folder which you must add/create and give it a 777 permission.

EDIT: Have installed DRUPAL 6.1 here and got the same problem. Am working to sort out the problem
EDIT2: You need to create a .htaccess file under sites/default/files
