I haven't see a good browser thread here. So what's your preferred browser, and why. Any browser specific issues you want to discuss?

My self, I am a big fan of Google Chrome, for it's speed, efficiency, and good use of space. IE8 is my backup browser. I keep a copy of Firefox around for testing purposes, but I don't use it myself.

Chrome with Firefox as a back up. It's just not cluttered and does what it should.

Opera 10 beta as my main browser with Firefox and Chrome for backups. Opera is so underrated and is extremely useful when you get into it.

Opera 9.5 for my general stuff (I don't like the new look of Opera 10), Firefox for my locked down browser (no javascript, cookies etc).

I use firefox as my main browser and have IE, Safari, Opera, and Chrome installed for testing websites I code. I use Chrome sometimes to play flash games or to browse javascript heavy websites as I have so many tabs open in firefox flash and javascript just skips along.

I have nearly all browsers, however, I enjoy using Firefox since most of the work I do requires Firefox. Firefox also has some really cool addons that are great for developers. I also like Opera for it's fast processing.

google Chrome is the best browser, when i first downloaded it, my internet was running at a lighting speed, i even checked my speed http://www.ip-details.com/internet-speed-test/ and it was normal too, hitherto i used firefox which chocked my browsing capabilities .
But the only one advantage with firefox is that it has more add ons, which makes things much easier

I use Firefox, but here is a little info I found interesting (but not surprising):

Memory Usage while Browser Idle on my Computer
Firefox: 39,000 K
Chrome: 9,000 K and 6,000 K (runs two processes for some reason)
IE: 8,000 K and 7,500 K (runs two processes for some reason)

Who can tell with IE. I'm a big fan of Chrome, but I know that at least some of the speed advantage of chrome is a bit of an illusion. You will have noticed how fast second and subsequent tabs open up. It has something to do with a "pre-load" thing Google does to make its browser seem faster. I believe this second process has to do with a pre-load thing.

Also keep in mind that I have like no toolbars on my firefox but I have got a style template I use to make it look nicer. My other computer (which runs Vista instead of Win7 like this computer) has a bunch of toolbars and stupid shit added on so Firefox runs something like 111,000 k on that one. I guess it depends on what you have added on and what operating system you are running (resource hog *cough*vista*cough*)

makes sense. Firefox is supposed to support a lot more in the way of plugins than Chrome, so I suppose accounts for some of the diffeence. Also chrome has very little in the way of configuration options. Myself, I don't need much in the way of bells and whistles, mostly I use my browser for research and Youtube, so I go with Chrome.

I like Google Chrome but I'm sticking with firefox. Can't lose my addons. D:

It eats memory, but I know why - because I have some pretty heavy extensions. And I couldn't live without AdblockPlus anymore.

My friends stopped watching TV in realtime, they use tivo or some other service to record 24h, and they watch everything with delay
of 24hours, but without stupid & boring commercials.

For the same reason any browser who doesn't have possibility to strip down ads & banners is simply annoying as ads & banners
you can't avoid if you are using that browser.

Yes, I know that I can use systematic solution like proxy blocking ads & banners, which would then work for all browsers,
but I sometimes like to check web page with ads & banners, and editing proxy rules & restarting just to see full
page is just overkill.

Other browsers which support extensions like Adblock & Greasemonkey are usable, and rest are plain garbage for users
who don't know better

P.S. Chrome is interesting, sometimes runs fast as lightning, sometimes it hangs forever before opening pages.

I never experienced any delay using Chromium on linux, but Chrome on WinXP sometimes behaves erraticaly (WinXP is clean install, other pc's in network behave, so I assume Chrome has some glitches....)
That's reason 1 why Opera is before Chrome, reason 2 is Greasemonkey/JavaScript scripts support in Opera

Opera has lost my business since they built a piece of crap browser for the Wii. Its mainly crap b/c the flashplayer plugin is about 2 versions behind which means I cant watch Hulu on my tv... Plus they didnt think about ad-blocking and its a single window browser, meaning all ads become the main window.

People who use ad-blockers really get on my wick... If you don't want a website's advertisements displaying, simple, don't visit their website!

A lot of websites are largely paid for by advertising, you're just leeching their bandwidth and content, if you're not contributing anything to a website, give back by viewing / clicking their advertisements, a lot of advertising networks use contextual advertising, so you never know if something they advertise might actually interest you.

So stop websites running out of funds and being forced to close, just because you can't stand a few advertisements...

I understand the point of ads, but I'm saying the particular browser on the Wii sets the last loaded page as the main page, where in this situation is the ads. So you can visit a website and just end up with the ad without actually visiting the site since the ads load last. And going back doesnt work b/c it just reloads the page and gives you the god damn ads again. Its a pain-in-the-ass feature that makes it nearly impossible to surf (why does everything on the Wii have to be harder?).

The only plus in all of this is that the browser is free . I dont know what is up with Nintendo, but they seem to like to give alot away for free...

I use firefox mostly, but I am starting to like chrome more and more.

I've switched to Chrome on my Mac, it is kinda buggy but much faster than Firefox/Safari.

I would say
Maxthon 3
or Maxthon 2.5
because they are very fast
and generally quickly and you can log in any website without typing a single thing by using Magic Fill

Internet Explorer is slow, but very aesthetic for showing sites...
