What was your favourite song?

I was surprised when I heard that on the radio.
We lost a good one (even if he was a totally insane pedophile).

1) He wasn't insane.
2) He wasn't a paedophile
Gonna miss him :-(

Like the Beatles, Michael Jackson changed music. Teaming up with Quincy Jones and bringing us things such as the 808 kick and mini movies instead of music videos. His music has changed the world and brought people of all different ethnic backgrounds together. He Will Be Missed

It's a shame that people are willing to go to such great lengths to bring someone down. They called him a pedo also for loving his children too much. If I was a father, I would give all my attention to them.

I just can't stop remembering how i use to dance while a little boy. I still have the tapes somewhere. This man was a man with so many talents, when his death was confirmed i was so sad. I was waiting for him for his concert in London but oh well.

If it's never mentioned in the media, then how come you know about it?
Anyways, consider that a rhetorical question, it ain't worth answering. But the fact is there are media reports every day about bombings in Iraq. Sixty people here. A hundred people there, it's been happening for years. It's not at all hard to find this stuff. In a week or two, Jackson will have blown over, but the Iraq reports will still be rolling in.

That's true... but the Iraq bombings never make first page in a news paper. They are usually just a small column somewhere in the 10-20 pages.
It's mentioned in the media... but put in odd places.

I think I see where you are coming from. All life is important, sure. But news is news. The Iraq thing is not new. And everybody knows it is happening. What makes stuff front page news? Sure a guy named Ahmed Akbar who was a grocer in Baghdad and had a family is important. But so is my friend who is dying of cancer, or some dude in New York who was mugged and ended up dying. Or the guy in Detroit that was murdered. A thousand people in Africa die of AIDS every day. That doesn't mean there is going to be a front page story on it every day.
Some one very famous and popular and influential dies and it is big news. For a while. That is natural. But no-one knows who my buddy is, and I sure as hell don't expect to see his name on the front page when he goes.

If you find Iraq disturbing, you should check what is happening to the Palestinians. Israel kills hundreds even thousands a day. Over 10 thousand Palestinians held prisoners of war in Israeli prisons and being illegally tortured. Of course, you only see those images in local media. :/
Speaking on Michael Jackson, the last good album he did was BAD around 1986 if I remember correctly.

OK dude, with all due respect, I sympathize with the plight of the Palestinians, but let's not get carried away. The latest Israeli invasion of Gaza, and the ensuing deaths, was front page news all over the world when it was happening. But there are plenty of western newspapers that would love to print a story about Israel continuing to kill "hundreds even thousands a day", or 10,000 palestinians being held and illegally tortured in Israeli prisons, if there was any remotely verifiable evidence it was happening.

Yes, there is proof. I wouldn't make stuff like this up. It's all over the news here with pictures and everything. FYI, the Israeli government doesn't even deny that. I watch this on the news all the time. The videos are very graphic.
I'm surprised you didn't know about it. These are very common facts.
Read this by the way.
http://www.thepeoplesvoice.org/cgi-bin/blo...08/07/06/p26784 This is from last year. The number is much higher now even with the death toll from inhumane conditions and torture in the prisons.
http://palestinianprisoners.blogspot.com/2...es-protest.html 8k according to Israel and 11k according to Palestinian authorities.

Very common facts? You're the one who said it never gets reported. So how would I know? And now you say you watch it on the news every day. So make up your mind. Which "news" would that be? Ah yes, the peoples voice and the palestinian prisoners blogspot, I checked out those links. True paragons of impartiality and unbiasedness they are. Hundreds and and even thousands tortured and killed in Israeli prisons? A bunch of bloodthirsty killers they are. Pure propaganda. Sure bud. whatever you wanna believe.

Try to stay on topiuc, I'm shure you can discuss Iraq, Israel and other issues in the serious bussiness forum. This is about the death of Michael Jackson.
On topic:
Never really liked him, don't really care aswell. In my eyes he's just another human being.
And pretty easy why they put Michael on first page and other stuff more to the back: Money. Newspapers sell BIG now that Michael jackson is dead and on front page, but when you place 10.000 death in israel or something, nobody is going to say OMG and buy it just for that.

I meant TV but since I can't "take screenshots from TV", I looked up those links. One of my colleague's brother died in a prison like that. You probably don't believe it because you live in the US where this sort of stuff doesn't happen. I went to the the US once. I was attending a geotechnical seminar in Portland and I met a lot of nice people. People in the US seem extremely nice and friendly but basically clueless about what happens in the rest of the world.

What I really like is his musics, his attitudes, I don't like his features. I like all of his songs but there's this that stands out, "They don't care about us, Smooth Criminal, Beat It, Thriller, Remember the time, Shout, Heal the world". Will miss him.

I tried to see if I could find the video online, but I was unable to. For those Michael Jackson fans, or those who want to learn more about his life, you should really watch CNN Presents: Man in the Mirror. It is on a couple times a day on my local CNN Channel, so you should be able to find it on yours. For some reason, the tv guides (or mine anyway) has just labeled it: "CNN Presents", so look for that if anything.
Basically, it is just a biography of his life. CNN does a fantastic job with it. I HIGHLY suggest it to everyone.

I disagree. The videos I've seen show him looking much slower physically than he used to be. Of course, he was 50 years old, so you cant expect him to move like he used to, but it was still a little difficult for me to watch. I also havent seen any of the practice videos that really showed his voicework. Those kind of concerned me.

It is very hard to select the best out of thousands of his famous songs because all had their own specific reasons of popularity. Personally I like ‘Somebody's Watching Me’ very much. I have heard that some new album is also released after his death but I have not heard that yet.

Hey was al egend indeed no matter what his personal story was. My favorite is preobably Billie Jean--where we first saw the moonwalk in 1983.
