This is nothing to do with Database backup!

What methods are used to backup the whole website?

Is it possible to tar.gz the Website Folders and files and Download the Archive?

I have been browsing about the User Area but cannot find the answer.

Perhaps I have missed something staring me in the face.

You can take backups with phpmyadmin, files you need to download via ftp. If you drop by IRC I might be able to help you out with a tarball.

Thanks for the offer, I may take you up on it sometime.

I was just asking to make sure that it was not a standard option.

I figured that it was probably a FTP backup method but wasn't sure as I could not find any documentation relating to Website Backups.

I am running CMS sites on various hosts but thought that Zymic looked pretty neat so I thought I may migrate one of my sites here.

I am in the process of uploading a 150 mb Joomla site now.

I figure it will take some time though.

I run Zikula, Drupal, phpWebside, phpNuke, Wordpress, civiCRM and of course Joomla as well as my own php installations.

Problem with backing up with FTP is that although changes are made to the CMS through admin, it is not always a simple task to follow file changes for backup, (ie FTP download altered configs etc) + my own php alterations to the extensions.

The safest way is for the Server to zip em up for download.

Don't get me wrong I am not complaining, (after all we are talking a Free Service here).

I realise that I could have opened with a smaller installation but I wish to Test the uploading etc on the free sub domain first prior to transferring a Domain Name.

Thanks again and the Community here looks great, (nice to get an answer).
