I'm afraid there is not shortcut, but the tedious way as you stated.
I'm as painful as you are because I wanted to remove a web account, and found that it must be done by requesting a staff member to do that. Too painful, but one still has to follow the rules. For me, since removing a web account is so painstaking, why don't I just leave the junk behind? I am considerate enough already and found no incentive in moving any further.

If you drop by the IRC, I can move your files from one domain (must be on the same server) to another within reason.
