uhhh Like 700 * 700 Is what I do...then the template looks good on people with low resolutions, But you could make it 1024 * 768 and then make the box centered in the middle and 700 in width...

I get The Picture

As already stated, the layout is too big and has a yucky color scheme. The layout is a bit too monotone and could use some variety. Overall though it isn't horrible, I've seen much worse.

I don't know, It's a strange layout. I like the overall idea (except for the fact that it's resolution was meant for Godzilla), I also like the color. Normally I don't like such color, but I think you can pull it off if you change the resolution. I would love to use such layout. The color reminds me of the colors of the old parchment papers. Sorry I used to be an art student back in the days.

The layout looks kinda boroing, ehm... maybe you shued have some inspiration that would maybe help, but still it isen't easy to use photoshop to make teamplates :b

No, I dont really think its crap, depends of what are going to be the contents of the site, if its personal website its ok =)
if not i suggest u to make it more clean and serious =) but it looks great anyway man.

How does the type of site determine your rating of it? ...If it looks good as a personal site then it looks good as if not...We have pretty much figured it out that its not very good...

I like the way you laid it out, but the style could be more eloquent.

For you i'd recommend getting in touch with fonts, and having alot of them, you never know which one will be right for the job, ususally types should have some kind of consistency, the news thing is just bold and completely different from the navigation text

next, add some style to your text, black against gold and silver that is completely unstyled doesn't work out very well.

Why did you use the gif format to preview the image? It would probably look a lot nicer as a jpg.

this design shows a lot of skill...however the color selection is not the best...vary the color more and it will look great...also...i'd suggest a simple font...other that that nice design
