Well, I think you have the solution but if not, I say to you that I solve this with the following:

- Via FTP rename the configuration.php to configuration.php-dist.
- Go back two pages (when press back one time you go to the ftp layer configuration. click back again).
- Check that you enter correct all fields. Press next, press next again and you should be able to install the demo contents (and finish the installation).

When you reaches the last page (you must delete the intallation dir) you should copy the content of the configuration.
Paste all this info into a new configuration.php file and upload to the joomla root dir.
This should work!
