http://edition.cnn.com/2007/US/12/18/hero....=rss_topstoriesWould you die for a parent, sibling, other relative, friend, other half etc.?
I have always held the firm belief that I would not die for someone else (no matter whom); the survival aspect of Existentialist beliefs. My life is what matters and it is up to me to prove it. If I were to take my life for someone else to live, who is to say that they would respect that and use it to develop their lives for the better? Most people probably wouldn't even blink, so to speak. If, on the other hand, I choose that someone else dies, the reciprocal is true.
Or maybe I'm just cynical.

How noble of you to say, however, I doubt you'd actually live up to such a thing. It's easy to
say you'd do it, but when push comes to shove,

I made this topic for a purpose and that was to spark debate, not cynical personal attack. You really need to learn to respect opinion - no matter how contrived you believe it to be.

Let me just point out that doing "krazee shit" has nothing to do with balls. You can have all the balls you want when joking around and making stunt films with your pals, but when it comes to the life and death of you and your loved ones... you can't even compare the two.

some of the newer stuff i have been doing (for the dvd) has been sometimes life and death situations. I was just pointing out that if i can take that, i can take a bullet for my family.

I myself think that my parents would rather i live than them, and if i was to die for them it would just give them grief.
for my brothers and sisters i would give my life without thought.
If i was older, like more than 40 years older, i'd give my life to a total stranger that was a lot younger than me because i'd have already lived my share.
as for risking my life, there'd be many situations.

I'd die for a girl that I loved. I wouldn't die for most of my immediate family. But if a guy had a gun in a busy place, I'd probably be stupid enough to act the hero, and try to stop him. It'd be a damn good story if I didn't die, and oh well if I die, it doesn't really matter anyway. I'm gonna die before too long with the shit I eat and my genetics.

In my current life I can't say that I would die for anyone, I think once I have children that I would die for them because me living isn't as important. I've already lived a pretty full life by then (I hope, and since i'm 20 and don't have any kids yet i'm pretty sure I will) and they've still got so long to live. As for someone I love, I really don't know, I would like to say yes but the grief they would live with would kill them I know, but me living and watching them die and knowing that I could have saved them would cause myself so much grief that I would probably be the worlds saddest and grumpiest man alive. So I honestly cannot say.

I would only die if it had a decent reward, to save 1 person, no. to save 2, maybe.
As others have said, yeh when im older, 1 for 1 would probs seem more reasonable if the other person was younger, but atm (16) i value my life over most other peoples.
But i would do anything in my power to save someone, provided it doesnt involve dying.

Honestly, there are a few people I would die for... They would have to be my girlfriend, whom I love more than anything in the world, honestly you dunno half the shit we go through, and yes she lives 500 miles away, and I am, 15 but still... Also I would die for my 3 and a half year old brother... Those two people are the only people I would die for.... The thing that is scary though, is my girlfriend would kill herself for me too... Thus meaning unless I had her promise to me, then she would kill herself from grief...
And yes, I may be EMO, but I do have since about myself, although I do crazy fucking shit too LOL

Firstly, I would try my hardest to keep my loved ones alive while living myself, as I have a better chance of protecting them in the future if I'm still alive myself. But if that wasn't possible, then the one person I would die for is my girlfriend, who is my entire world.

You could say that yes, but after 2.5 years of being together with my girlfriend, I'd still die for her. It isn't just simple love anymore, it's something special, a "connection". You can all go flame and say whatever what you want, but once you have that special thing, you'll think "wow, so this is what liqfan was saying

Firstly, you're only 15 so no need to patronise us with the "you don't know what it's like" routine.
Secondly, you'll look back on this in, say, 10 years or so, and laugh. You just don't know it yet.

I know what I'm talking about, had enough of my share in love and shit, I'm not in love anymore, it's something different than love, it's something what connects people together after the love is gone, and after 2.5 years we had serious trouble, and we managed to overcome some serious shit, so if I say I won't laugh at it later, I'm serious.
