I don't really use a lot of programs and I have tired to cut down on lots of different programs to do different things,
but basically:
Safari - Web browser
Photoshop CS3 - Photo editing
iPhoto - Photos

iTunes - Music

(and yes, I think it's good)
Mail - email

Final Cut Express - Movie Editing (Still learning)
Coda - Coding
Transit - FTP
Adium - msn/aim/gtalk
Colloquy - IRC
Acquisition - Torrents (Need a new one for this tbh) / Music downloading
Then other smaller ones like last.fm, Photobooth, Address Book etc.

Itunes is laggy, I just want to open my music player and listen...I dread plugging in my ipod because it takes like 20 seconds of lagg for this sad excuse called Itunes to open...Even if I open if before I plug ipod in it laggs...

True it is pretty slow on a PC, when I used it on my PC it used to annoy me; but on my mac it is a lot faster, has never frozen and I have never had a problem with it...
Apple never really code anything that works 100% great with a PC.
Colin
Dec 19 2007, 06:20 PM
tis' a shame since pc's are used more...and It is sad that I have tried opening it with 1024MB RAM and a decently average pc...with nothing else open and it still was slow, Its almost like Apple made it slow on purpose
QUOTE(Adam)

Don't Microsoft just leave Mac on archaic versions of their software, Internet Explorer for example?
The most frequently used GUI programs I use are as follows (on Linux, KDE):
- Firefox - Needs no introduction
- Konqueror - My file explorer
- Konsole / Yakuake - My terminal emulators
- Kate / vim (tends to be vim not gvim) - My text editors
- K3B - For all my CD / DVD burning needs
- Amarok - Probably the best audio player in the world
- Kopete - For MSN
- XChat - For IRC
- VirtualBox - Runs virtual machines, useful for testing live cds or running windows based applications
- Wine - For windows API translation; Gaming mainly
- ManDVD - Create DVD's with menus and all sorts of fun stuff
- The GIMP / Virtualboxed Photoshop - For graphics

I'm fairly sure it's partly because no sane person on a Mac wants it, just like no sane person on Windows actually chooses Safari or iTunes except out of necessity.
I use a lot of the apps in the above list, but no virtualisation at the moment, I use Konversation for IRC rather than XChat, tend to use nano over vim (largely due to lack of effort in learning all the commands, maybe if I got a cheat sheet). Others:
- Thunderbird
- Kopete - for MSN
- A few games: CoD1 and Neverwinter Nights 1 mainly
- OpenOffice - for office functionality, since I've tried KOffice but cannot get used to the interface they use.
- MPlayer - for DVD playback
Favourites are easily some of the ones said by Bread though: Yakuake, Kate and Amarok are all awesome.

It is basically for writing code. Mainly HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc.

How come all those programs on Linux start with a K?
Or is it just what all the cool kids are doing these days?

I use: khotoshop, kreamweaver, klash and kireworks

(Still on CS2.)
The 3D stuff is Cinema4D and lots of utilities; UVmapper, 3D-Coat, HDRShop... and lots of others
At the office its MS Office but at home I've switched to Open Office and Thunderbird.
3D at home (as a hobby) is also strictly freebies only, currently DAZ Studio, if I used Cinema then it would be just like being at work
