I am an Australia living in the US and my family is currently on our last jar of Vegemite and we are basically in panic mode. I wanted to know if anyone could help me understand the restrictions on importing food products from overseas for personal use. I read up on the FDA's requirements and from I understand, I shouldnt have a problem getting it into the country. Of course, the biggest problem would be how to get it into the country. I have plenty of family in Australia that can buy and package it for me, but I dont know how to actually send it (since it would be a package and not just mail). Can anyone give me any recommendations as to how to go about this?

Btw, I am aware of the Foreign Food Stores that sell Vegemite, but they only sell the tiny travelers jars and they charge like $10 for it. We are looking to get our hands on a few of the large jars.

And for those who are unfamiliar with Vegemite, it basically has a half-life and, despite having an expiration date on the jars, never actually goes bad. So long-term storing and worrying about it going bad isnt a problem.

Low on vegemite? That is nearly as bad as not having food at all! Vegemite works on anything - toast, muffins, ice cream. tongue.gif

I would just package in a box with lots of bubble wrap.
