IRC GUIDE
1. Download / install mirc
http://www.mirc.com/get.html
2. Start IRC and choose your server
First connect
Full name: Choose any you wish
E-mail address: Choose any ( can be your own, or any valid address or something stupid like Name@msn.com)
Nickname: Choose any
Alternative: Choose the same as above

You are under this folder "mirc options" > Connect, now goto servers (direct subfolder under Connect) and choose the "ADD" BUTTON

-Type in under description: Civony
-Type in under Server: irc.coldfront.net
Push the ADD button at the left bottom

Doubleklick now on Cybernations the old window pops up and here hit the button "connect to server" ( above the button should be the textline "Server: Cybernations
Now you are on IRC.
2.2 activate under options: (press Alt E > Options)
- Connect on startup
- Reconnect on Disconnection

2.3 activate under options > perform
- Enable perform on connect

3.Register a Nickname
You have to register a nickname and you have to identify yourself, otherwise you won?t be able to join our private channels. while you are in a channel. Use the server Window: Coldfront "Nickname". Type in:
/msg nickserv register MyGoodPassword EMAIL
(DO NOT FORGET THIS MyGoodPassword and use a Email address you OWN)
(Registers your nickname in the NickServ database. Once your nickname is registered, you can use the SET and ACCESS commands to configure your nickname's settings as you like them. Make sure you remember the password you use when registering; you'll need it to make changes to your nickname later. (Note that case matters! FIDO, Fido, and fido are all different passwords!) You must include a valid E-mail address when registering your nickname; NickServ will send a message with an authentication code to this address, which you must use with the AUTH command to complete your registration. You can prevent your E-mail address from being shown to other users with the SET HIDE command (type /msg NickServ HELP SET HIDE for more information).
Passwords should not be easily guessable. For example, using your real name as a password is a bad idea. Using your nickname as a password is a much worse idea and, in fact, NickServ will not allow it. Also, short passwords are vulnerable to trial-and-error searches, so you should choose a password at least 5 characters long.
Wait for the registration email. When you received it
/msg nickserv auth EMAILPASSWORD
(Authenticates registration or change of E-mail for a nickname. To ensure that your E-mail address is correct, NickServ will send an message containing an authentication code to the E-mail address given when you register your nickname or change your E-mail address with the SET EMAIL command. This command allows you to confirm that you have received the message and continue using your nickname normally. Replace code in the command with the nine-digit authentication code given in the E-mail message.)
Now you are registered. Type in:
/msg nickserv identify MyGoodPassword
and add this line to your perform list (press Alt E > Options > perform >Other Networks)

You have to identify yourself before you can join our public channel
4. Get to the channel
Join #Civony on irc.coldfront.net.
4.1 Autojoining
Type in this 1 time after your are regged, identified
/ns AJOIN ADD #Civony
Add any channel you want to be in via autojoin with this command
/ns AJOIN ADD #CHANNEL
5. Leave and rejoin IRC to test you account
You will loose your status if you change your nickname with
/nick NEWNICKNAME
to avoid this you have to link your NEWNICKNAME to your registered one with
/msg nickserv link NEWNICKNAME
6. LAST BUT VERY IMPORTANT STEPS
Type in these lines
/msg nickserv Set secure on
/msg nickserv set kill on
(saves your nickname from getting hijacked)
7. NOTE
Why you have to do all these complicated things, because IRC is dangerous, there are many skilled users out there and channel hijacking or infiltrating is sometimes a sport. It is not legal but in alliance wars this was often used/tried to mess up Attack or Defence planing or infiltrate a spy
8. Usefull settings
8.1
add to your perform list
/ebeeps off
( you won?t hear that stupid "ping pong" and others sounds when you join a channel)
You can hide your email address from other user by this command
/msg nickserv set hide Email on
8.2
- press Alt E > IRC > Highlight
- enable highlight and add your nickname, then choose edit and set "Match On" and "Play Sound" for your own needs
( i have it set on "Message only" and disable sound, so if someone pm me my status MIRC window flashes )
8.3
- press Alt E > IRC > Options
activate "flash on message" query and chat
activate under "others" Hide Ping Pong events
8.4
- press Alt E > IRC > Message
activate Timestamp events
