Why is Zymic Free?
How is Zymic Free?
What pays for all this bandwidth?
I cant belive I was hosting my sites on DirectNic for 10yrs.
DirectNic had the banner at the top & bottom but now that they forced a pop up on each page forcing me to leave them in a panic as to not drive my customers away but free hosting with no banners? I'm not used to such luxury. I am thinking I will just let my domains expire with DirectNic & use these free subdomains instead but I am still scrathing my head, no advertising yet it's free?

Other projects that the owner Jack has funds Zymic hosting. You can use a your own domain with zymic hosting if you want.

This hosting has been around for almost two years I believe and still has no advertisements, and there are no plans for ads in the future. Like Banjo said, Jack could be considered a little entrepreneur. He's got many projects and a couple make him enough money to pay for all the server expenses and not come up broke.

As long as people like you come join the hosting and get something out of it, I don't see the hosting going anywhere anytime soon either.

As much as anything else it's a marketing strategy that raises the profile of the company. Because of the free services offered, many people know about Zymic. And some of that bunch will choose a pay for service for business or other reasons. It's the same reason software companies such as ZoneLabs, AVG, and others offer free software. It gives their company a higher profile which leads to increased sales of other products.

For guys like me who dabble in website technoogy, it is a great dal. And if I ever decide to go into business and need a paid for site, well I'll probably think of zymic first

This is the best free web hosting i get so far. I already delete my other free webhosting sites for the reason that it is too slow in updating the servers.

I usually use a free webhosting to test my web design skills. smile.gif

I salute Jack for it..

I too wonder. This is the first web hosting I tried and the only problems I run into are knowledge (my lack of it.) I try and learn one small thing each day.

Been here since the start.... Zymic has really changed the way for free hosting. No one can really compare.

Its all paid for with advertisements on other sites, other projects and premium accounts.

After my other post in this thread I did some poking around, and I didn't see any paid for premium accounts at all, which surprised me. I would Imagine there are some paid for services offered here?

Anyways, I'm impressed. I tried several sites before I settled on zymic. One or two ther sites whose names I won't mention offered a little more in the way of freebies on an ad free account, but zymic was clearly better for system availability and performance.

well done and thanks.

There are currently only 2 paid options.

1 is the mail() function, and the other is mx records (which allow your account to have e-mail).

We don't have 'premium accounts' as such.
