Is anyone able to tell me the number of processes and the amount of memory taken up by those processes on a fresh version of Windows Vista 32-Bit Service Pack 1?

I am trying to build up an argument that my mum is the reason our family pc is so god-damn slow since she downloads like EVERYTHING (common occurrence for teachers apparently)... My parents were considering to upgrading to Windows 7 and I tried to explain to them that upgrading will probably not solve our slow problem since we will still have all this crap on our computer slowing it down and the best solution would be a clean install and figure out what stupid crap was just mindlessly installed and NOT reinstall those. So, I'm looking to bring up some facts for my argument.

My ridiculously slow computer right now:
100-101 processes
about 371,000 K of memory (rounded)

I left my pc's stats for comparison and to grasp some sort of legitimacy for my argument.
Responses are appreciated.

If you just press the windows key + R and then type msconfig
you get the system configuration utility. Go to the startup tab along the top, and then you can UNCHECK everything. Your computer will STILL run, it will run AMAZINGLY faster, and nothing will break. The only thing that MIGHT break is anti virus or firewalls, but most of the time they are started as services, so they shouldn't be affected.

Try it out and see if they notice a speed increase. If they DO show them that list of programs starting up with the computer and explain to them how horrible it is to have all that crap and go through the add/remove list and delete some of the crap.
