Full Version: Google Just Got A Little More Evil...

Ok, so I have always known Google was an evil cooperation slowly taking over the technological world by giving free shit to everyone and cashing-in in the stock market; BUT, after mindlessly playing around with Google Earth I noticed something...

The feature that allows you to scroll back the satellite images somehow goes back to December of 1930. Now, the first satellite launched into orbit was Sputnik 1 and that was October of 1957, 27 years after Google Earth's first satellite images of Earth... Now, Google Earth also has images from December of 1940, December of 1942, July 1946, September 1948, July 1950, Jul 1952, May 1953, December 1953, and January 1955, all of which came before Sputnik.

So, the only thing I can get out of this is that Google somehow managed to get their hands on a time machine (which I understand is a free app on the Droid). This would make Google much more evil than I originally suspected (Dr. Evil caliber since he was the only evil person who I remember also has a time machine).

Can anyone clean this up for me or what?
Alex
So, you're sure these aren't photos taken from planes? Like all the high-res ones today are? Even today it's hard to view something smaller than a field very accurately from a satellite iirc.

Well they are in color, which makes me question even more things...
Andrew
there are ways to color black and white photos in Photoshop. Maybe that's what they did.

I'd also like to add the first color camera was invented in 1907, so they COULD have gotten color images.

Wow 1907, didnt know that. I actually didnt look it up but I thought colored images came much later than that.

And after further inspection, I believe this is actually just a glitch... It goes back to 1930, but as soon as you zoom in it changes to 1988 by itself. I dont know what to take out of that.

Tell that to the GPS industry... Google crushed their stocks when they showed the video of the Android's GPS feature.
Alex
That's the free market. Developing competing products is not evil, evil is anti-competitive behaviour, price fixing, etc.

I believe they are actually all being controlled by some sort of super-evil overlord of sorts.
