Hello
I went through the process fine but after dumping the installation file and trying to login to the site administration I received a 404 page not found with the URL of
http://hosting.zymic.com/404/ The site URL is
http://silpadajewelry.zxq.net/ . The Frontpage comes up fine with the sample date but when I add administration on I get the 404 response. Any ideas on what is the problem.
Thanks

I am attempting to install the latest Joomla_1.5.20

Its probably the ftp server is now allowed extension 2.1.0. Change the name to CHANGES-2.1.0.txt, it should work

Never have had such a mess installing Joomla on any webshost free or paid before in my life.
This is such a disappointment.
I finally gave up and went with freehostingcloud, what a relief, easy breezy like its supposed to be and fast as a whistle.
Thanks Zymic though for the site, I have utilized it for the wordpress rather than the Joomla and incorporated the sites.
The sites are for my older Uncle who wanted to create a family blog and family tree.
Your Free Zymic site will do quite handily for the wordpress and is greatly appreciated.
I know I could have used the freehosting cloud for both, but decided the wordpress
installed on Zymic might be safer for now until I get my Uncle used to Joomla.
Did not want to totally confuse him LOL.
Now, if I can just teach the mon unc how to use the Wordpress, I can relax a bit.
The newer Joomla and the paid pro themes ( Rocket Themes ) have files that are not accepted by Zymic.
Perhaps someone should look into that, but its not my problem anymore.
Great Forum and thanks for the assistance even though for me it was a moot point.

its cause mail() is disable by default on zymic and you would have to purchase mail from zymic

Mail function is disabled by default. To activate it you have to pay I think $5 a year for the function to be activated.

Hi all,
Regarding Joomla here, Im having trouble with uploading some extentions for the site. Ive done it before on an old useless host that had zlib enabled, so im trying the manual method here.
I uploaded my extention uncompressed to a folder,
joomla install extention
pointed to base dir of the extention
it thinks for a little bit and comes back saying it cannot copy the file to /components/com_<any of them>
I have checked and rechecked permissions, i even gave the entire site 777 in the end but still get the same issue.
Any help or advice would be great ^^

I periodically do a fresh install of these CMS's on zymic to ensure that my tutorials work. Guess I'll do joomla again to make sure. Keep in mind though, that I've yet to have to make any major changes to my guides thus far. Make sure you follow every step exactly with how it's written.

Now open up the sessions.php file located in the '/libraries/joomla/session' folder.
So yeah, read the whole thing.

Use CTRL + F...
Did you make the database and set it's permissions? That's not the fault of joomla, that's on your end.

Hi, thanks for the tutorial, great job.
Joomla 1.6 does not go beyond the 2nd page were it checks all setting.
Now that zlib is off you can't press NEXT, only Previous.
Any suggestion how to deal with that?
Thanks for all!
Found it!
Read my friend, read:
Some people may have trouble with this part as in some cases there will be no NEXT button. If this is the case you can get to the page by entering the url manually. For example is my website is lizontest.com my url would be lizontest.com/installation/index.php?view=license

I can't get to install any templates, modules etc in Joomla.
I upload the unzipped folder into /tmp and then in extension manager I "Install from directory" where directory is "/....../htdocs/tmp".
When I hit Install, I briefly get a non-graphical page saying:
Warning: constant() [function.constant]: Couldn't find constant JPATH_ in /www/99k.org/f/u/l/......../htdocs/libraries/joomla/installer/adapters/module.php on line 74Then is going back to admin console displaying the following error:
JFolder::create: Could not create directory
JInstaller: :Install: Failed to create directory: /www/99k.org/f/u/l/...../htdocs/templates/name_of_template/js-I tripled checked the instructions (those with adding @ in front of some lines etc.)
-I have all directories set to 777 and configuration.php is also set to 777. (all show Writable in System info)
-I spent like 4 hours googling for solutions but unfortunately I don't have access to the backend of the server
**** ADDED LATER*****
-I also had to comment this line: $obd = ini_get('open_basedir'); in the file /libraries/joomla/filesystem/folder.php. Otherwise I get this error
JFolder::create: Path not in open_basedir paths
Template Install: Failed to create directory: /www/99k.org/f/u/l/........./htdocs/templates/name_of_templateI am on Jooml 1.6

FYI, it normally takes me about half an hour to have a joomla website up and running: not on zymic though...
I am stuck, please help.
