I have messed something up. I can't modify my existing databases or add a new database. How do I request to have my PHPMyAdmin database username and password reset? Thank you.
Ed
You can't do this.

However you can check your configuration files for the password, otherwise, just delete and recreate the user.

So deleting all of my databases and starting from scratch is the only option? There are no other options?

Ed did say check your config file for the database password...
Though if you delete JUST the user, and create a new one and leave the database alone, as long as you assign that new user the permissions to the existing database you won't lose any data.

Ah! That sounds better. I don't know which config files to check. Can you tell me filenames and locations? Thank you.
Also, with file manager, I can't seem to navigate any higher than /www/zxq.net/..../arejaybee/htdocs/ where my html files are and ftp is down. How can I navigate to the location of the config files?

Configuration files are generally in the root directory with name such as config.php or in support, lib, or database folder.

Andrew
htdocs is technically your root directory. You won't have any files higher than /htdocs/ so check there, sometimes like he said, in a /lib, /config, /settings or similar directory if not in the main directory.
Ed
I think you're misinterpreting what I was saying, config files for your software, your forum etc, if you have a database, you're more than likely to be using it on your website. Find the configuration file for that and you'll find your password.
Andrew
filesdb/db2.inc.php is where it's located... just to save time lol

Ah! Thanks. where are these config files located? With file manager, I can't seem to navigate any higher than /www/zxq.net/..../arejaybee/htdocs/ where my html files are and ftp is down. How can I navigate to the location of the config files? I don't see any WebDisk config files. Can you have a look in my folder where it should?
Andrew
Look above your post, I told you already...

Hi Andrew. filesdb/db2.inc.php is a script that I wrote to support the my filesdb webpage; it has nothing to do with creating a new database or using PhpMyAdmin.

I think there's some confusion here, most likely mine. So, let's start over.

In trying to create a new database, i get the error mentioned in the OP, also, the Create a database box won't let me enter any text. I was using the user and password that I had previously been using, but I was not able to create the new Db. So, I thought if I could reset the pw it would fix the prob. Since you can't reset the pw and suggested finding the PhpMyAdmin config file, I was trying to find out where that is.
So, how can I access the config.php in support, lib, or database folder? I can't see anything higher than htdocs and the only files there are ones that I have written. I don't see a support, lib or database folder.
Andrew
We weren't suggesting you find a phpmyadmin config file, we were suggesting you find the config file for a currently working script that used the database, in it of course would be your current username and password, along with the database that script was using.

I was under the impression you FORGOT your username/password.

You are supposed to use the username and password that your script uses to login to phpmyadmin.

Thanks Andrew. I appologize that I didn't explain it well in my OP.
Here's the situation. In trying to create a new database, the Create a database box won't let me enter any text. I was using the user and password that I had previously been using, but I was not able to create the new Db. Any ideas what I should try next? Thanks in advance.
