Anybody got any idea about how long this slow upload is going to continue? ive currently got a upload speed of 0.08KB/s!! Im only trying to upload a 2mb file and currently at 37% ive still got over 4 hours left to go

You have to be logged into your zymic control panel and access your database there. All you can see in Filezilla are files that you have uploaded to your website.

And for anyone uploading through FTP, you could try uploading through your zymic control panel using the file manager. It's a lot of work if you have to upload a lot of files but if you're uploading just 1 or 2 files, especially files more than 150 kb, I find it faster if I upload it through the file manager. Sure I'd like to upload it through the FTP, but the way it is right now, I'll do it through the file manager instead. I know the admin is working on problem and just hopes that it'll get fixed soon.

So I have used FTP multiple times and it has worked just fine, but now I can't upload files.

I can connect to the server in a matter of seconds, view directories, delete files, and download files just fine. But when I try to upload new files, they first attempt to upload until the connection times out. This actually creates an empty file with the correct name. When it retries it asks if it should override the empty file it just uploaded which just uploads another empty file over it when it times out again.

I understand the admin are fixing errors similar to this, I just don't think this is as much a server issue as a personal issue.

I really have no ideas as to why this is happening. Any help is greatly appreciated.

@ Sean223: I just tried uploading a test file [around 14 kb in size] to my account. I did not encounter any problems. Maybe it's a user/account specific issue here? and if it is, then you could post your account details for the admins to look at .

Well my few tests revealed that Ftp is working properly for my account. It was, as I thought, an issue with my computer. I tried to upload some files from a different computer and it worked just fine.

I wanted to edit my file, but the ftp haven't allowed it. I'm using Total Commander to organise my files. I tried it from my other computer, but it was the same... I can open the file, I can edit it too, but when it comes to the re-uploading, it always shows me: "transfer error. continue?" (I have a hungarian version of TC and this is a loose translation.) And the file hasn't changed at all.

What should I do? Could somebody help me?

i just finished downloading and using filezilla to upload ftp, and it also tells me that i have been successful, but unfortunatly, it is not coming up on my file manager, nor when i try to web extension. Also, i uplaoded a new index.html manually through the site, and it isn't there either, plz help! thankyou!

Try clearing your cache or using a different web browser.

Whenever I try to log on to the FTP, it gives me a "Connection with server could not be established" error.

Hi Kaori, I'm also a newby to these overly generous hosts, but have had no problems with FTP uploads over the past few days. I've been using Core FTP Lite (freeware download), which is very intuitive (highlight files you want to upload, right click to add to queue, then right click in queue to upload. The devil is obviously in the detail, which for ftp is the settings for connecting. The site name is in the format http://yourname.vndv.com, the url entry is ftp.yourname.vndv.com, your username and password are straightforward, and I've been OK with Port 21, timeout 60, retries 2. Obviously lots of variables that may make a difference, but if you're having problems this might be worth a go? Regards, Ben.

Yes it is annoying, but they are switching datacenters in the middle of this month. So if you can be patient then stick around.

Maybe, the issue is in the middle of being fixed, keep checking the news topic about it, they will update that topic once it has been resolved, then try to log in.

The ONLY time a person has been given "two different answers for a FTP host" was when necessary. It's because we have two servers and each one is different.

For you your on the VNDV server. So your login details look like thi
FTP HOST: localhost
FTP Port: 21
FTP Username: username (WITHOUT ANYTHING ELSE)

Had you been on our ZXQ, ZZL, clanteam, zymichost server it would have been different. But still the username you were using was NEVER suggested by any staff.

There has been no suggestion that the server is switching from any admin, as far as I have seen. There is certainly nothng in the news section.

However, the server is in read only, which is the cause of all your problems.

I keep getting that Error trying to connect to my FTP through FileZilla, and I really need to access my forums because I gotta fix a Functions.php Problem and it won't let me delete that specific file from the Control Panel's File Manager. So I really need FTP Access, which I don't have.

Anyone know what's up?

I think the server is just being moved etc, but I could be wrong. I would just check again later. It looks like your login info is right, and if you're doing everything the same, then it must be the server. Just hang in there, the updates are coming!

i keep getting that error, and when i try to go to the file manager thing built-in, it gives me an error when i try to add a directory, a new file, upload a file, or, after editing, saving files. (pretty much everything)

I think it's the server being in read only mode. The vndv server is being moved to fix some downtime problems and should be fixed very soon. When it is, this problem should go away.

I havent seen anything on it at the moment, but it would be awesome if one of the Zymic admins could give us some sort of guess as to when it will be back on again (its just a pain in the ass to keep checking back if its expected to be a few days). Thanks.

They having moved a single server. They bought a new one recently (the vndv server) but never moved any servers. They are moving the vndv server Tomorrow, the 18th.

Meh, either way the servers are always changing about, this happened a few weeks ago. (Where all Websites Become Read-Only and Forums Get that General Error)

Yea but that was a simple fix, they did an fsck and it fixed the issue. But they since have learned that the read only error is being caused by a faulty hard drive.
