So I can log into my FTP fine, can't upload, delete, re-name, move or create anything... Been like this for over a week now. http://morerecordings.vndv.com is the address, really need full FTP access within the next 48 hours or else I have to start storing items on *shutters* megaupload.

Server should be fixed tomorrow (Monday the 18th). But you still won't be able to upload music files, their file extensions have all been disabled.

i cant upload, or delete files

Hey, my whole file managing system doesn't work anymore. I can't edit/delete/add any files from the control panel or through FTP. When I use FTP, I get the error 550 saying it's a "read-only file system". Can someone tell me how to fix this? It was working fine a while ago, and then suddenly, it just doesn't want to work anymore.


Update: Never mind... reading the previous posts a bit closer, it looks like I'm just gonna have to wait a bit.

Anyone use Core FTP? I'm having some serious issues and I'm about to shoot it in the face.

I can't connect using "heartofpandora.vndv.com" but if I try "ftp.heartofpandora.vndv.com" it connects, although I'm positive that doesn't do crap because I can't see any of the files I try and uplaod. They're obviously not uploading and I'm doing something wrong, I just don't know what.

I've tried FileZilla - that worked even worse. In fact, every FTP client I've tried has been on giant failure. I'm about to give up and crawl back to Freewebs. Ugh.

Help? Preferably before I go insane... =_=

Hey, I downloaded CoreFTP Lite and couldn't get anything to work. I got the same problem you have where it says it connects, but it doesn't show you anything. If you use firefox, try using FireFTP. That's what I use, and the GUI is a whole lot better than Core or Firezilla.

Here are the settings I plug into it:

Account Name: __[name]__
Host: learngames.vndv.com
Login: learngames
Password: __[pass]__

I don't have a mac, but you could check this link out http://trac.cyberduck.ch/wiki/help/en/howto/connection. Go to your account on your host website and look for "FTP address" and "FTP username". I have a domain www.prov...com, but the service provider is PowWeb, so the url is actually ftp.powweb.com instead of ftp.prov...com. Over here at Zymic, as far as a free website goes, my web url is http://learngames.vndv.com and the FTP address is ftp.learngames.vndv.com. Looking at the how-to page linked above, it looks like you'll have to enter the whole address: ftp://[yourFTPaddress].

Go to Tools and you'll see FireFTP next to a blue seahorse. Click that and it will open up in a new tab. Then in the top left you'll see a drop down menu. Select "Create an account". A window will pop up and you should see under the "Main" tab:

Account Name: [whatever you want to call it]
Host: [your ftp address]
Login: [your username]
Password: [your password]

You can leave everything else as it was.

I'm unable to login to FTP all of a sudden.

When i signed up for zymic my user name was truesaint and when i created new web hosting account it was glennys.vndv.com and then i added a extra domain with my own domain truesaint.co.uk ,So i dont really know if i did anything right or wrong but cant seem to access either domain on Ftp
To be honest i just want to give this free hosting a look at as i have never done it before and once im happy it looks and works ok i shall be using the paid hosting here especially with the 99.9% uptime which is very appealing,

It seems that the connection is really very bad.
It takes numerous times for me to upload several small sized files via FTP and most of the time i'm getting connection timed out.

I'm shifting my site away.

Getting the same error, however yesterday I did manage to get in and today. I can get in using FireFTP but I can't see any of my hidden files.

I have the problems with Filezilla, but it gets in sometimes.

i am trying to add the tp mod to my smf forums
however, it needs access to the ftp server for chmod changes and files additions

however when i enter my ftp info, it doesnt work

Look around. I think it's because zymic doesn't allowed remote connections. I could be wrong with the reason but I do remember seeing a topic on this and that with SMF forum mods and Zymic, you have to manually install the mod. The FTP server won't work.

No I mean when you browse to the file on the internet aka steelersfan.vndv.com/ranks.php is the file doing what it's supposed to do?

I ask because the server is in read-only mode now, and I'm thinking the file didn't finish uploading. Maybe your ftp client started to create the file but got kicked off mid-way through uploading.

the original file uploaded perfectly a week ago. Dreamweaver built in FTP just simply overwrites the files already on the server so there isnt a problem there. I've never had a problem with it until now. And it was before the sites went offline btw.

Well either way I blame it on that, since you've not had a problem with it until today.

Whatever, I did nothing and it works fine again.

You can't upload more than 3 files online - you're better off downloading filezilla.

.zip files are allowed, but you cannot unzip them when they are uploaded.

I cant get to the FTP AT ALL! I followed the tutorial, and nothing is working. I have tried every possible combination in FireFTP, and it says unable to make connection. I am able to use all other FTP fine. Anyone know what Im doing wrong?
