Has anyone ever had any success? I'm tempted to invest some money, and looking on http://finance.yahoo.com has inspired me to get in contact with a broker. And before you say "I have no money", you don't need much to make some small cash on the side, just a bit of sense and awareness.

Did you know exactly one year ago today Apple share prices were $81.50, and today they peaked at $200.00. If you just bought 100 shares a year ago and sold them today you would of made close to $12,000 profit, better than the money sitting in your bank right? I mean just look at Google's history at http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=GOOG damn if only I bought some shares a few years ago rolleyes.gif

I think I'll invest a small amount in some large companies, which won't be disappearing anytime soon and see if I can profit more than the crappy interest rate my bank gives me per year.

I'll update you once I take the plunge.

I had bad luck. My father and I have invested $20,000 on this company we hoped would be a great choice, but we ended up losing about 3 to 4 thousand dollars. That stupid firm never got anywhere. Oh well, I'll just save my own money instead of waisting it in stupid things.

You have to read up quite a bit on the market BEFORE investing. Like, I wouldn't pay shares in Microsoft myself, because after looking at their history, they fluctuate way too much. As do Yahoo! Google wouldn't be too bad, but if you hadn't done it years in advance, you're screwed. Anyone got a spare $700 lying around? LOL.

http://www.fool.com/ has some great advice for beginners in a nice easy to read structure.

My Dad was given some shares with Plains All American (their stock symbol is PAA) I believe he was given like 1,000 shares or so, and since the company is growing so much, his shares went up $44,000 in one year. Wasn't bad, and good retirement plan haha.

P3D1GO - he should know when to draw out. I mean if he made that much, he should really consider removing some cash. I wouldn't risk it all.

Maybe when I get back from Iraq, I'll invest into some, or a Thrift Savings Plan.
