Why aren't php files allowed..? Almost all css templates and forums use php..

Furthermore, why aren't .rar or .zip files allowed?

*.torrent bittorrent files

We're not a tracker wink.gif. The legal implications of hosting .torrents is far too great to even contemplate allowing this one. Prime example is thepiratebay.
Jenny Purcell
.bak - proprietary backup format for Tenset database files.

Thank you,
Jenny

hello guys,

Obviously Tom sent me out to this topic about my request
I would like to know if there is a way to allow these type of files.
"dotclear.ini.in" & "config.php.ini"
Thanks in advance

Tom
.theme and .engine allowed.
Dark Pyro
.class and .mp3 though i think thats already alowed its not letting me upload it xD

and is there any way the function mail can work safe mode blocked it...
drakkar
jar - java applets

Its client-side. Why not to allow ?, RedBOX listed it too in Oct 10 2007.
Thanks.
RedBOX
But Nobody's listenin biggrin.gif...
Just kinding they won allow it cuz they will make their server "easy to attack" in other words: vulnerable...
Dark Pyro
.class - a file used for decideing xmls and is used in the flash chat program
.bat - stores info for my flash chat program
.mp3 - still isnt letting me music for flash chat
.exe - for flash chat
and
.lib - a library for a flash app and others in this case flash chat

please get these up as soon as possible thanks,
- Dark Pyro
Tom
.exe and .mp3 are no-nos. I'm not too sure about .bat but as it's essentially a text file it should be okay.

Allowed: .class, .bat, .jar, .lib
Maller
Could you allow .raw ? They are needed for gallery2 modules
Tom
Allowed: .mod, .raw.
Colin

.exe and .mp3 are no-nos.

You all should add a list of files that will not be allowed ever like .mp3 and .exe...so people stop asking lol...
Alex
I'd like to believe it would help, but we'll still get a load asking. People are like that.
Colin
Well you would at least get less...And you all should possibly let people like submit an mp3file and if they can prove its theirs then you all can host it...because some bands might want to host music lol
Ton
i need this file types..

1.) frmresourcetype.html.org
2.) frmupload.html.org
3.) spell-check-logic.cgi
Tom
Well we don't support CGI scripts, so I'm guessing allowing those is going to achieve nothing.
Ton
i need it.

its part of the fckeditor.
Tom
Yes but if you'd read what I said, we don't support CGI.
Mephiles
I'm guessing asp wouldn't work either?
Tom
No, we're a PHP host.
Denmad
Could be great if .vbs would be allowed. It's a small script that I need to host as a download - it edits the user's configuration when launched to modify the Frets on Fire (a game) highscore upload address. Well, it makes life easier for those who doesn't want to go the long way (which are the most of the users).
RedBOX
.vbs if I remember right could contain a Virus or am I wrong?
Tom
It's a VB script. While it's a text file and sometimes used by websites made in 1994, I still think it should be disallowed as locally it can cause damage, yes.
kelkal
hello guys,
I have no idea rolleyes.gif what mellow.gif represent the work to allow files but
do you know if .in hunter.gif .ini will be allowed before the next week?
if it can be allowed.
Thanks
bthaxorforum
i'm sad there's no torrent files allowed sad.gif

...and mp3 as well as exe formats are not necessarily bad...

as for mp3s, i'm guessing the main concern is that people would use thir as free file hosting - but what if a filter were applied like 110mb.com (hate them) that checks the ratio of number of php/html etc files to media types? just saying...

also, for exe

i am a programmer as well as a web developer... and i am one of those people that publish their work open source..

i would really appreciate the filter being applied, allowing torrent files and exe.

sorry if i'm requesting file formats which you guys don't approve... but i still think we could compensate...

also, i know this is probably a lot of work.. then again, i can imagine so was this website wink.gif
Tom
.mp3s? Copyright violations, not a problem with file hosting.
.exes? Too dangerous. Open source means... open source, so just provide your source, right? If it's that big a deal, no one's stopping you from paying for hosting which allows any file type.
.torrents? Why not just use the regular method of using a public tracker, or send it to your friends via email?
Tim Warren
.mod for SMF extentions
