Wow, well I dont think I would even use the old amount yet. ohmy.gif Im looking for a new paid webhost, so maybe I'll have to take a look.

The whole purchase for 12 months/24 months thing, Id rather pay monthly. wink.gif

Personally I think Lunarpages is overrating. From experience, their hosting service are terrible including their plans. I would rather choose BlueHost over them knowing the fact that BlueHost oversells out of their mind. But when you login to cPanel knowing you have like 320 gig of space, makes me happy. I might just buy a hosting account and upload my entire hard-drive files onto their server and see how laggy it gets. Should be fun

How is lunarpages overrated? I have been using them for almost a year now, and i have had no problems with hosting, support or anything.... And now that they have just upgraded plans, im going to be staying with them for a long time...

I really HATE overselling, and this is an example of how you'd NEVER be able to use your whole bandwidth quota because by the time you use 15TERRABYTES (500GB per day!) you'd get suspended for using too many resources. Its sad that the hosting business has come to this, disk quota and bandwidth amounts are just for marketing and will never reflect what you'd potentially be getting. I challenge anyone to try and use that quota without getting suspended.

It is not physically possible to offer 15TB of bandwidth and 1.5TB of diskspace for $7 a month, about the cost of your lunch.

It is indeed true and I have attempted it with BlueHost. I was the webmaster for EHJBasketeers.com and their hosting account got suspended when I used almost 40 gigs of their space. Filled it up with PSD files of works I have done. I contacted their support service and asked why? They have yet to reply.

A little while ago I was hosted with Lunarpages. My hosting account was very laggy and had constant downtime. Not sure what was going on with them, but I believe it was just that one server.

hey jack ill try that challenge... i have to scrounge up some money, but when i get it ill try it wink.gif

and i think the essence of saying that you can have that space and bandwidth is to reassure you that you wont need more, because thats why they offer it, who the hell is going to use up all that space?

It's false advertising, it's purely there to attract sales. There's no truth to it. That offers me no reassurance.

at least its unlike dreamhost who keeps rising....

im going to contact support and see what they have to say....

How are you going to create a site which uses 500gb a day bandwidth?

im going to create dummy files that reach up to 500GB and use my spare pc to have it continually download....

I didn't know you could download at around a rate of 140 MegaBytes per second wink.gif

hmm... im going to have to then set up a couple computers at different locations to fill that gap.... idk... it could be possible....
Magnus
@Tom its actually possible if you know enough people who rent out servers, with their 100mbit uplink, of course you'd have to persuade them to let you try it, possibly with the idea that you could form a lawsuit and pursue the company for false advertising etc...

We're straying from the point - for the sake of argument, realistically and in the context of everyday hosting, it's not going to happen.

well then maybe its a idea to try if i ever get rich...
Lou
lol, i dont think you'll be able to use it all.

do they have a huge building with servers in it ore something?
bcz, were you want to keep all those harddrives O.o

LMFAO!!!!

anywayz my tv shows episodes range from this:

DivX Version: 160-220MB
WMV Version: 300-500MB+

And my tv shows site gets viewed alot, so depending on how much it grows online, i may need more than one. (but usually i over-predict on bandwidth)

edit:

lets just say all my videos (divx and wmv) are 400MB each. For season 1 i have 16 episodes. Thats a total of: 12.5GB.

Now what about bandwidth? with numbers like those im sure it would rise. But what if i have a season two w/ keeping season one online? It just keeps rising. And don't forget, i also house other sites on the same account....
