Full Version: How To Sell Domain Names
Zymic Webmaster Forums > MarketPlace > Domain Names For Sale
Alex
Currently a work in progress, suggestions welcome

The posts so far have been pretty reasonable, but to ensure we don't get worse I'm going to give a rough template of what information we and the domain name buyers will be expecting.

Post Template (* denotes information that is very important)

Topic Title: Selling {domain name(s)} [{sale type}]
Notes: {domain name(s)} is obvious, but {sale type} less so, it could be one of auction, BIN or other.

* Domain Name(s): {domain name(s)}
* (Base/BIN) Price: ${price} USD
Notes: remember to specify the type of currency, $ is not entirely clear. It could be USD or CAD or other.
* Purchase Date: {date}
* Expiration Date: {date}
* Registrar: {registrar}
* Form of Payment: {payment option}
Notes: paypal, bank transfer, etc
Full Whois Info: {link to whois data}
Notes: you can use http://whois.domaintools.com/ for this.
Popularity/Hits per day/week/month/other: {information on popularity or a numeric of the average hits}
Notes: graphs and other statistical data might be useful here

Reason for Selling: {your reason}

Additional Information: {info}

Fake Example
An example of how this might be done:

Topic Title: Selling domain.tld [BIN]

Domain Name(s): domain.tld
BIN Price: $50 USD
Purchase Date: 2007-09-21
Expiration Date: 2010-09-21
Registrar: NameCheap.com
Form of Payment: Paypal
Full Whois Info: http://whois.domaintools.com/domain.tld
Popularity/Hits per day/week/month/other: Blah blah blah stuff about visitors.
Additional Information: A nice domain, blah blah

That's it! Good luck with your sale. smile.gif

It would be much easier if you just coded this into the create a new thread forum, like sitepoint and various other marketplace forums have done.
Alex
And that might be something to look into depending on the actual volume of sales we have here. If the volume is low then it might not be time well invested.
