Hi,
I tried to install WordPress, but failed. I tried putting the file under root and under /htdoc, and failed both times. I could not generate config.php. if I manually do it, I could not login.
Could I use Word press in a free account here in Zymic?
My address is www.literaty.com and literaty.99k.org
Thanks
Did you first create a MySql database and user for wordpress?
http://screencasts.uuuq.com/installing-wordpress/After you create a database and user , if you want your site url thus:
http:thenameofyoursite.com, then upload it to the
site root.
If you already have a site up and running and you do not choose to replace it with a wordpress,
but want to
add a wordpress blog to the existing site then create a new folder
with your database name
Example: lets say you created a wordpress database and you named it
blog.
Create a new folder named blog and upload the wordpress files into the folder "
blog "
Then the url to your wordpress install script would be:
http://the name of your site.com/blog/wp-admin/install.phpand after that the url to your wordpress would be
http://the name of your site.com/blog/Make sure you also rename the file
wp-config-sample.php to
wp-config.php before uploading the wp files.
Open it in a text editor and replace these below with what matches your database and passwords.
DB_NAME The name of the database you created for WordPress
DB_USER The username you created for WordPress
DB_PASSWORD The password you chose for the WordPress username
DB_HOST hostname
localhostsave it and upload it
NOTE:I have just discovered however that Premium WordPress themes such as Rocket Themes for WordPress
contain files that are not allowed here so you should take that into consideration before buying them for use
here on Zymic Free. I have these same exact themes installed for friends on other free sites without a hitch
but here much of the content within the Premium Themes is not allowed for some reason.
EXAMPLE : Rocket Theme Infuse with all sample content. <<{ most content not allowed here }
What the Premium Theme Looks Like On Zymic FreeWhat it should like is here While the theme itself installs ok, many of its functions will not work because
certain files are not allowed here. Bummer. Guess I will have to go on ahead and install it
onto the other freehosting cloud where I had to install the Joomla theme that matches it for my Uncles site.
I was so hoping! Anyway, installing the WP is easy, is sure you will do well.
Here is an excellent free WP theme with many " extras " that works great here on Zymic BTW.
http://tarskitheme.com/Tarski 2.7 adds compatibility with many WordPress 3.0 features, including custom backgrounds.
A detailed list of changes is available in the
changelog. Please note that WordPress 3.0 is required for this release.
Tarski is a WordPress theme by Ben Eastaugh and Chris Sternal-Johnson.
Flexible and customisable, Tarski was created with blog authors in mind: it’s easy to install and personalise. However, Tarski is also highly extensible and employs a number of innovative features which the more technically-minded can take advantage of. Its clean and well-documented code provides an excellent basis for more extensive modifications.
Coming with a choice of header artwork, numerous options are accessible via a simple, easy-to-use options page. If you run into problems, the documentation should provide the answers you need, and the developers are active on the forum.
I highly recommend this theme for newbies because of its powerful yet very easy to implement features and its great support.
You can not go wrong with this and if you know a little bit of HTML you can really make this one " your own "
