**SHOULD WORK AGAIN!!!!**

To use your custom TLD domain on zymic and be able to make subdomains you will need to create A names to your hosting. This can be done very easily and this tutorial will show you how by using the DNS service EveryDNS.net

1. Register for an account at EveryDNS.net

2. Once registered add your domain.

3. At your registrar, point your domains nameservers to:

ns1.everydns.net
ns2.everydns.net
ns3.everydns.net
ns4.everydns.net

4. In your EveryDNS.net account, go to the manage page for your domain.

5. Enter your domains name into the 'Create Record' box and change to A name. Then enter in your sites namserver IP:

users with all subdomains: 74.86.20.180

7. Enjoy your Zymic hosted site with your very own domain and subdomain!

Thank you very much Mr. EMOruffino, I am trying it now. smile.gif

If you don't mind I like to ask some things because I am still confused about a few points. smile.gif

2. Once registered add your domain.

Just add it using the "basic"?

I am still confused about how to fill these (like in which field should I input the IP address etc):
Add a record:
Fully Qualified Domain Name:
Record Type: A
Record Value:
If MX Record, MX Value:

Sorry if I ask too much. smile.gif

Fully Qualified Domain Name: your full domain (no www)
Record value: is the IP

and thats it...

EMOruffino
in your registrar you should have an option to set nameservers.

How can I use my domain in my account?
Tom
By following the instructions in this thread.
Locus
no no.... I know how to do it years... I am using Zonedit.com service.

I wonder How to do it in our account setting...

but, nevermind, I found it in the password area in my hosting panel.
safernetworks
An alternative to all this, if you are using GoDaddy.com as your registrar.

log in to your godaddy account, set domain forwarding and domain masking and point the domain name to the alias domain you have.

In the masking you will be required to enter your meta tags for SEO, however the drawback is that this uses frames,
and if you have a framebreaker script on your pages the purpose of masking is defeated but the visitor sees your sub domain instead.

Alex, you've double posted and it's directed to those who own a domain name already for example: gamingx.org you pay for .org .net .com etc.
So if you own a paid domain name, You can change the name servers to direct to your site. Just like forwarding. :-)

you can also use a uni.cc domain they are free and you have full dns control of it (as soon as the control panel is up will i test it on this hosting it has worked on all others i have had so ithink it will work here too)
mr.prozac
i might be a bit off-topic here, therefor my apoligies.

I tried to forward my domain, which is a .NL TLD (the Netherlands) to my zzl.org domain.

But i get a "502 Proxy Error.".

Could someone explain to me what's wrong?

I'm running my own mailserver at home, so i can't use direct forwarding, i forward *.iriswijk.nl and www.iriswijk.nl to the appropriat IP addresses of ns1.zzl.org and ns1.zzl.org.
EMOruffino
the name servers ip of ns1 and ns2 are the same.

I think maybe the TLD .NL might have to be added manually. If not please let the DNS propagate.
monkey
it doesn't give a option when u regisiter!
I follow the instrustion but it doesn't work still

can you give me a picture on adding the namesever
Trippin7464
Two questions, could you tell me if I have this setup right, just for regular domain hosting? If so I would then just duplicate the cname name box for anything else like forums?

And also, am I able to add domains to our account or is that just down. Because this whole post nobody has said anything about the domain thing in the control panel being broken, but all over the hosting support section they say it is. So?

Anyways, thanks for the tutorial, though I think it was outdated, I think a couple things were off for me. Unless I have it wrong lol (well after re-reading i guess it's just rather vague.) whatever it helped me and now i'm rambling.

Hi.

I'm new to Zymic hosting and I've been reading many of the topics in these forums. I've just set up a small page at quepey.zymichost.com. I also have the domain quepey.com and I've updated the DNS servers with the registrars to ns1.zymichost.com and ns2.zymichost.com.

I tried using the Account Management options to add the Custom .com domain name in the given field. However, that is not getting updated. When I click Confirm, the page behaves as though it's saving the changes, but it actually is not.

I've been reading another post where first the admin was manually adding custom domain names for everyone's subdomains. Now even that has been stopped because of some backend issues.

Pray tell: even if I use everydns to create A and CNAME records, I still need this information to be updated on Zymic's servers so that internally it knows where to redirect the request, correct? So effectively I can't use my own domain name until Zymic fixes this or if I move to some other hosting service? Or is there some way by which I can use my own domain name even though the form isn't working?

Thanks in advance.

I did what the topic said but i got this:

Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /.

Reason: DNS lookup failure for: brayans.com

reason?

Abhisek,

Were you able to get around this problem ? I registered at zymic, got my page set up, changed dns servers to ns1.zymichost.com and ns2.zymichost.com, used Account Management options to add the Custom xxxxx.com domain name in the given field (doesnt seem to save the domain name as it keeps showing the zymic subdomain after save), registered at everydns.net, changed the A record xxxxx.com to point to 74.86.20.180 and CNAME record www.xxxxx.com to point to xxxxx.com. The records have propagated on all the everydns servers. However when I access www.xxxxx.com, I get redirected to http://www.hosting.zymic.com/404.jsp and get the 404 Page Not Found! message.

Kindly help !! Anybody help, please...

I am also being redirected to http://www.zymic.com/free-web-hosting/. I have the hosting account of akapplegarth.99k.org. When typing in my web address www.akapplegarth.us (purchased through Yahoo.com) I am getting redirected.

I have updated my name servers to:
ns1.everydns.net, ns2.everydns.net, ns3.everydns.net, ns4.everydns.net.

I have verified the whois entries.

I believe I have set up the everydns page correctly:
Host: akapplegarth.us Type: A Value: 74.86.20.180 noMx TTL: 3600
Host: www.akapplegarth.us Type: CNAME Value: akapplegarth.us noMx TTL: 3600

I think that I have everthing set correctly. Is there anything that I am missing?

Many thanks in advance,
Keith applegarth

HELP ME PLEASE!
Niintek
When i enter my domain in my zymic account i get the DNS is not set correctly error, also im realy confused at stage 5 of your tutorial.

Did i do it right?

emmanicole
First I added my custom domain in the account management panel, changed the nameservers on my registrar to ns1.zzl.org & ns2.zzl.org, etc etc. That caused my domain to redirect to http://hosting.zymic.com/404.jsp

Because that didn't work, I did the EveryDNS exactly as described here. Changed the namservers to ns1.everydns.net etc. etc., created the A & CNames..now my domain redirects to http://www.zymic.com/free-web-hosting/

I am asking someone, anyone to PLEASE HELP. As you can see, there are many having this problem. I understand this is a free hosting service, but as long as you guys are offering the option to use your own domain it should actually work.

Please someone help.

Thank you.
Trippin7464
I know you sent me that PM but did you even go into the Zymic control panel and setup your domain from there??

ANY HELP ON FIXING THE PROBLEM....
IT looks like lots of people have the same problem?
EMOruffino
setting mine up now...
EMOruffino
i see the problem.

when i try to add my domain to my account on zymic im getting a stupid DNS not set up error. Thats the only problem im getting that could be causing this. If i could get pass that it would work.

EDIT: got past that, now need to tweak stuff...

EDIT2:

seems like i can confirm this error. It seems that after the new settings to get domains working again it knocked off some other settings for A names to work properly.

so for now, this is now dead...
