It was going to happen eventually, and I'm sure a lot of us are proud of our PCs, so brag about yours. smile.gif

I've got two here, my main desktop:
CPU - core 2 duo 6400 @ 2.13GHz
HDD - 320GB WD Sata2 7200RPM
RAM - 2GB (2x1GB Corsair)
GPU - Nvidia 7600GT 256MB
Monitors: 2x 19" Widescreen SyncMaster 940BWs (res: 2880x900)

And my former desktop current backup box, which is somewhat older (single core 1.8GHz, 1GB RAM [originally 256MB], etc). Both running Slackware Linux, and the desktop machine is using KDE 3.5.7. smile.gif

Mines rather old but it does the trick:

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz
HDD: 1 80GB, and another 80GB though 50GB is used due to it having Slackware on there
RAM: 512MB x 2
Graphics Card: Nvida Geforce FX5200 128MB
OS: Windows XP
Ed
Needs an update, but I have no real need.

CPU : Intel Pentium 4 3.2ghz
HDD: Western Digital 2 x 160GB SATA
RAM: Corsair 1024MB TwinX XMS 3200XL X-Treme
GPU: GeForce 6600 LE 256MB
Case: Coolermaster Wavemaster
Sound: Creative 5.1
Monitors: 1 23" LG Flatron with PIP, 2 17" unbranded lcd monitors
OS: Debian Etch KDE 3.5.7

Third monitor is a bit of a hack at the moment, runs off laptop and keyboard / mouse is synced via synergy. I'll get around to buying another graphic card at some point.

Also Jack, Desktops are still useful, You get more for your money hardware wise...plus hardwares usually cost more to repair...If Laptops were like the same price as desktops then Desktops would probably discontinued...I am sure someday that will happen lol

True, I can't argue about that - but I just love the fact I can walk away with my laptop whenever I want, whereas a desktop is err not so easy to tongue.gif

An ATI HD 3850, 3870, or Nvidia 8600 series, 8800 series would be some good DX10 card picks.

Definitely Nvidia. 8800GT is what I'd say, since the GTX is just scarily expensive.

Looking forward to a laptop since i the xps dream was a week ago.. something with Intel core 2 duo, at least 2048ram and 120g hdd, nvidia graphic card, i dunno for laptops but something as powerful as a 8800gtx or gts but laptop version... not so sure about vista coz it makes me nervous, i am really onto the Linux process and i really like the idea of being "free" so might be running Linux, or a kick ass modified version of XP, but i think i will not touch vista... at least not now...

Mine's getting near 2 years old now... It was pretty top-of-the-line when I got it...
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13GHz

  • Memory: 2x1GB sticks
  • Monitor: 17 inch HP LCD

And of course the Toshiba laptop (used primarily for coding/schoolwork)... It's less than a year old, but... it was cheap happy.gif

  • GPU: Mobile Intel 945 Chipset (Oh yah. That's right. Hot, right?)
