You can do rounded corners with code or images. Your rounded corners are pixelated probably because you did not turn on anti-aliasing for the Rounded Box tool or your did not save with the proper settings.

How do i go about turning on the Anti-Aliased... And what would be the proper settings?

Here is where you turn it on(At the top):
And if you are saving with transparency just stick to a preset like PNG-24 or GIF 128 Dithered and you will be fine.
