I have tried and failed at uploading or transfering any multimedia files like mp3, wav, mov. Is it me or do I need to do something else

no its the server as we are blocking ALL media files from being uploaded

does that include swf files? I'm trying to get my porftolio to show which is in a flash swf file and it won't show. Works fine on my local side but when I look at it server/host side all I see are black or white boxes.

i just installed SMF and noticed the sound files were blocked in the upload. Are we allowed to hot link the .wav files from a dropbox account, assuming SMF will recognize them remotely?

you can but i think you will need to rewrite the captcha script to read it
