Hi Cualifar,
Welcome to the Zymic WEBMASTER RESOURCES Community.

I believe an appropriate place to start this actual REPLY would be to ask you of your level of skill in webmastering (beginner, intermediate, professional, etc.)?
Do you have any previous experience in Artistry (creating art on paper/canvas, etc.)?, and if so, have you converted that hardcopy art into digital format(s) like "jpg", "png", "gif", "bmp", "swf", etc.? What image/graphic application(s) are you familar with or use? Do you make your own digital graphics/images? Are you ready/committed/dedicated/disciplined to learn to teach yourself (this usually comes from a strong desire/sincerity to obtain the goal you are seeking to achieve)?
It is just, that to assist, ...it is desirable to have some more start-up information on your position so One can better assist you (I know I'd like to see you succeed in your goal).
I believe that you will find, that through the resources available here at Zymic, there are numerous other Zymic Community Members that will assist in instruction(s), example(s), tutorial(s), link(s), etc. for you to teach yourself what it is you want to achieve in making the "web comic".

This is a good start... and remember that everything takes time and is dependant on your learning curve (some learn fast, some learn slow, some learn through guidance, some learn through instruction, some learn through example, etc., etc. ...but, the only way to learn anything is to teach yourself through what you allow yourself to be taught. Teachers cannot teach you - they give instruction - the real only teacher is yourself). Don't be afraid to ask questions or inquire of things - without curiousity One is lost to complacency never growing in intellect to make things happen.

Hope this helps you out to get you started towards achieving that goal to "make web comic" ...waiting to hear from you, Cualifar.

Thank you a ton laugh.gif
I really am just a beginner and have only a little understanding of how web pages work although I know how to work with photoshop (Im still learning but I got the basics down) and I have a good idea of how more or less its gonna be.

I really want to achieve my goal and I need all the help I could possibly get, no doubt that Ill find it here.

I think of myself as a fast learner and I am very curious about stuff I dont know and I am very dedicated (I have a notebook full of comics) so I think there will be no problem.

And again, thanks a lot! smile.gif

Hi,
Great! Let's continue with some basics that (I feel) every beginning web page creator (Webmaster) should be in concern of (this comes from personal experience):
  • Dedication to teach Oneself, be patient ...for good things come to those who are in wait ...this being in the example and of knowedge that the LORD helps those who help themselves (so to speak "...proverbially")
  • Mental preparedness for the worst so you can easily overcome obstacles through disipline when the worst appears (if something other than the worst appears - it's a blessing through what you've disciplanarily taught yourself)
  • Be Organizationally Orientated! (BOO!) (without organization everything becomes a mess making it hard to find things)
  • Get some basic webmaster tools (and take a little time to learn the minimum basics to utilize them for their basic purpose) to make the job easier thereby easily eliminating deficiency(ies)/error(s)
  • Learn the rudimentary HTML Fundamentals of writing Valid Source Code (the Foundational Cornerstone) for your web page creation (don't expect to learn complex advanced techniques in web design/development to get the eloborate web page look, the complex advanced techniques will manifest themselves as you patiently teach yourself)
  • Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS) ...no offense meant... just KISS - everything you do
  • Keep a BACKUP of your work on your local computer (this is very handy should something fail out on the Internet you will be able to easily replace your web sites' pages you worked hard to create)
  • Keep written notes of what you are teaching yourself (they are an irreplacable resource for you to reinforce what you've applied in your learning)
  • Don't be set back by failure(s) to ask question(s) for guidance, instruction(s), example(s) - basically, knowledge
  • Don't be set back by failure(s) of others to meaningfully convey upon a subject you desire to learn about - try another source (their presention of material may not be what you need - some informational sources forget to cover the basics of the information they are in want to convey but have overlooked the primary purpose of conveying information, i.e., bringing you up to speed to get you where they are in explanation of) ...kinda like me!
  • Know that the hardest part of teaching yourself something new is getting familiar with the basics before you can implement the basic knowledge from where understanding is achieved and wisdom arises from
  • Skim, read and peruse what you believe to be answers to a problem from that you'll be able to implement a solution (there are many answers to a problem to arrive at a solution and know that a solution can be modified to meet the need of alleviating the problem)
The above listing(s) are but the first few steps in preparation for the journey of a thousand miles wherein you'll occasionally meet up with others, travel with others, come across the oasis to pause and refresh yourself...

So... In the interest to familiarize yourself with some of the above (generally for pertinant information - or better yet, get your feet wet with doing what you're getting yourself into) Check This Out and then Check This Out (don't forget to write the important information(s) down for your own records such as username(s), password(s), procedure(s), etc. as they are for your resources - don't rely on others to do what you should responsibly do for yourself)

In respect for future reference:
  • I utilize an WINDOWS XP Media Center Edition (WIN XP MCE) Operating Sytem (OS) IBM/PC Clone x86 (32-Bit) Computer
  • I use Internet Explorer 8 as my Primary Internet Browser for checking/proofing the design/development of web pages
  • I use three (3) additional Internet Browsers (installed on my computer) for web page design/development compatability check(s)/proofing(s):
    • Firefox
    • Opera
    • Safari
  • The information I will provide will be for what I term as basic HTML (which will be in the web page document type format of HTML 4.0 Transitional: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">)
    • The reason for this (I feel) is that the Transitional web page allows for deprecated usages within the page without generally creating errors, and,
    • The fundamentals are better learned and absorbed before more advanced version(s) of HTML which doesn't cover the basics (they expect that you've already been knowledgeable of the basics)
    • The styling of the HTML will be without Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) information (that can be covered after you've gotten the basics down, as it is advanced technique(s) and teaching yourself basic HTML should be the first priority and when once you're comfortable with the basics we can get you into the CSS)
  • Remember ...patients - Rome wasn't built in a day (it took two rolleyes.gif LOL )
  • Take occasional breaks so you don't burn out and the breaks allow for filtering and pondering about the teaching you are providing for yourself
  • Creating web pages from writing Valid Source Code is much more fun (and profitable) than using application(s)/program(s) to generate code you don't understand (if you don't understand what is in the Source Code when problems occur, such as compatability issues with other Internet Browsers, how are you going to make your site look and give the feel a Professional, You, did it)
