I'm currently looking again to start my own hosting company.
I know there is a huge market out there and it will be very hard to get started with customers. I've had experience in the past with owning a hosting company but have not experienced a huge growth in sales.
I'm looking for advice that will help me as I will make the setting up process as long as possible so I know I have everything covered in starting a good hosting company.
Thanks

Is there any real opportunity for profit though? Many sites offer hosting for less than $10 a month. Hell, the hosting at zymic is free. The cost of storage and bandwidth has come way down, so the margins for profits have come down as well. The amount of time spent searching for clients or the cost of placing ads will probably cause this to become a hobby rather than a business opportunity, and if you aren't loving every second of it, the whole thing will fall apart. How about putting your efforts into creating something original that can benefit the web?

Im looking for a new project to start on and actually commit to finishing it and publishing it to the web.
Im just in need of ideas and was thinking more along the community line but thats growing rapidly. I have been thinking about creating an online links directory which would benefit people searching on the web I guess.

No, how many link directory's are there??? Another one will not benefit the web...I think you should start free templates...there are alot of those sites but as long as your templates are unique it will be good...Thats why Zymic is so popular...and if you want to start a business then truly you need to be 18 where I am from (USA)

I myself am not the best at creating layouts, so maybe provide links to only free templates?

like million others.... wich is killing the web :/ everyone links back to same templates.. and its geting uglyer... well i thank that... its what it pushed me to start creating my own

not doing bad tho

But the UNIQUE template thing is really NOT bad idea... you just need to find coders and designers that can help you out... probably create a ww company... webdesign ? provide free templates but also paid templates... paid setups... and also try to probably put some hosting parts...
What i think is more things you do the better it is... see Zymic is 100% correct... Unique templates, Unique Service... long time in market... offer free hosting.. DAMN i really want to see what is Zymic with paid hosting service.... no one will bit it sicne the free hosting is arelady rocking...
i like the idea... but ill suggest combining everything...

It you could make your own website templates, then it'd be good to make a free template site. But even I know of good ones. Also, who says the age limit for a business is 18 minimum?

in my country.... its 18 wich is in France.... thats where you are legaly mature and legaly counted as a man and old and thats when you are allowed to vote, drink, pay the bills and watch porn

and if you have $$$ start your own company...

What are you good at? You should make a site on how to do the thing you do most, if it is computer hardware post a site with tutorials about how to do maintenance on your computer...if you are skilled in an instrument then post a site about how to play it...You need to know about what your posting, Example: Someone posting a site with photoshop tutorials but they have no idea how to even create a new document in PS

Doesn't that sound nuts?!?! lol

I see a lot of people know what they are doing, alot of people that want to help out, and a lot of people that want to start to learn this.
Just an idea, does anyone else think we should get a big group of people here at zymic together to start our own site? Staff of like 10 well knowlaged people in every field such as design, coding, php, xml, ect., tutorials, and a lot more.
I have started websites and got them some what active but that was when I was younger at about 10-13.
I don't know.. just a suggestion lol.
But starting your own site, company, w/e.. is hard work..

A web hosting company is a good place to start if you have alot of knolage and time and not forgetting the money to buy and maintain servers.
Im only 20 at the moment and I work for myself (not a company owner yet) but if you have faith in yourself you'll be suprised what you can achieve.
Funding is available in many fields I'm in the stages of getting a grant from the princes trust for about 4grand ish to start my mobile disco company and that money is for equipment and music not for wages etc. Also I'll be looking to get about 300grand for my dj shop so it isn't cheap going it alone mate.
Best of luck anyway mate if you want more info on princes trust just pm me
