everytime when i try to open my web page it says you should replace index.html, but i dont know what they mean by that
Jack
index.html = the first page someone sees when they directly visit your website. It simply states that if you want to change that page, either edit it (click the edit icon in the file manager), or simply upload your own index.html file and overwrite it.

but my website is made up from many files how do i overwrite them to index

I think you're confused, just upload all of your files, and then tell me if you have any problems.

how to upload them? hunter.gif should i put all the files into index folder?

see there are 2 things here :

your files (your actual website that is on your computer and that you are trying to upload to your website / the host)
the files that already exist inside your host.

The thing is this index.html that you are asked to replace should be replaced by YOUR index file from YOUR files from YOUR pc. there are just asking you to put yours.

the index page (index.html index.php ...) is the very FIRST page of your site, the browser is looking for this page to start your website.

____

How to upload ? well different ways, i do not know if there is a file manager inside the zymic site but you could try to use FTP, you will be using a program (smart ftp) for example to upload your site from your PC. Its like a connection from your pc to the server where your site is.
You will need to download an FTP program (free versions everywhere on the web) and you will need to put the correct informations to connect to your site via FTP. your informations will be found inside your account on zymic host at the site (i dont think youll get them from the forums).

Put these infos, connect and you will see your files inside your site, i think your just gonna have index.html for now (whihc is the one that needs to be replaced) but put ALL your files inside your host via FTP and your done, its gonna overwrite the index page and thats it.

_____

Its confusing at first.... all the index.html stuff and the ftp and the uploads and the overwrite but once its in front of you its really simple.

Is there a file named index.php? If so you can use that INSTEAD of index.html
If not then the scripts your using are just weird.

yea there is a file index.php and it transfers me to the admin area or somewhere else....weird
do you know something about php? could you help fix this?
Trippin7464
I know a little about php, enough to get things working. Did any instructions, or ReadMe file come with the php script? If so look in there, you probably have to change a config file, and maybe even setup and admin name and password in the config file. You also Might need to setup a mysql database. If there is a readme file, look in there for help on getting the script running. If you can't figure it out, paste it here, and me or someone else might be able to help if we have time.
