Full Version: [hosting] Current Bugs And New Features
Zymic Webmaster Forums > News and Announcements > News and Announcements
Jack
Hello,

I have decided to create this topic to explain about various problems in one go, and to assure you all we are working on the issues. I will also list some new features which may be implemented soon.

1) Custom domain setting

When you try to add a custom domain, e.g. site.com using settings.jsp, it never saves your value. You submit the correct value, yet when you go back to settings.jsp the value has changed.

Yes, we are working on this issue and will assure you that this will be fixed in 1 week tops.

2) PHPMyAdmin is very slow

This is not a problem our end, however a known bug in PHPMyAdmin when you have a large number of databases on one server. You may read about the bug here: http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=19588

This is tricky, as there is no fix. The only way we can essentially solve this is to cluster our MySQL setup to 2 or more servers which will ensure there is not a large amount of databases per server. This is costly, especially since our current database server is running fine and has had no downtime in over 60 days.

We are certainly thinking about this issue, but please be patient while we find a better solution.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aside from the bugs, we are working on implementing new features.

1) Auto install of web scripts

You will be able to install popular scripts such as wordpress, phpbb, phpnuke, joomla, etc with just a few mouse clicks.

2) Auto extraction of .zip files.

Simply upload a zip in our file manager and our server will extract the contents for you.

3) Safemode, fsockopen and mail

We will be implementing an upgrade system in which you can turn on mail(), turn off safemode and enable fsockopen for a very small fee ($'s). These are enabled/disabled for security reasons, and we simply can't enable them without a price.

4) Domain name registration

We will be working on a system which enables you to register cheap domains with Zymic. This will not be done soon, but will be implemented in the new version of Zymic some time this year.

----------------------------

If you have any other features you would like to see implemented, just ask.

Thanks
wozzym
i definately like the ability to turn off safemode and have email for a fee. i also like the idea of having the ability to register domain names right on zymic. I hope all goes well and these fix ups will definatley be great for zymic smile.gif

Thats true

Sounds like the only thing would be to make split the databases somehow Or go through and find inactive accounts and delete them. And I'm talking about like inactive since day 1. But that will only fix the problem until more users sign up.

but newer sometimes does help wink.gif
