I want to install the gimp animation software but it only comes in tar.gz files. I am using windows. How do I open/use tar.gz?

Get 7-zip. It is a free file archiving/extracting software that supports almost anything. (I used it when I unpacked gimp) Also, the gimp is awesome!

Winrar also will work.
