Hi, iv just finished my first propper coded layout and i was wondering if you would mind writing some feedback about it like how i can improve it.

I may put a theme change on there later so you can change colours etc...

hm... personally i think its a little plain, but the coding is nice, and the header is pretty cool. i just dont think the baby blue goes well with the silver/gold.

Thanks, urm ignore the background colour i couldn't be bothered to find a good colour so i just took one out of a different css file and used that.

oh, ok. then the colors go well together, the gold and silver.

Thanks, any suggestions on how to make it un plain. Im already going to different themes (Colours for it) and the content area will be more interesting. This is just like a shell for the layout.

id suggest adding more of a graphicy look and more shadows to make it look more 3d

maybe add a background image? it might look better. like a gradient or small tiles usually looks good.

Yes - add those things.
Also, texture it up a bit...make it layered, for the sleek dimensional look (I totally made 'sleek dimensional' up, haha, but you know what I mean).
On top of everything else; make the layout 'your own'. Add your style and flare, make it reflect you.

I think this layout could work quite well if a few things were fixed. I decent pattern background would look nice in my opinion, maybe something darker. I would also use rounded corners on this layout, maybe with a light drop shadow and lighter stroke. The text on the header also needs redone to something that blends better and is sleeker. I would also change the fonts anywhere you used a serif one. I also think some gradient rounded corner rollovers for the main navigation would look nice.

So some stuff to do is...

• Make a good background
• Rounded corners
• Change Fonts
• Drop Shadow
• Have different colours
• New Header
• Edit: And spice up the content area a bit. (Will be easier when i put content there)

Any suggestions on header design and background like stripped pattern or something.

Hi, sorry for updating a old topic but i thought it would be silly to make a new one.

Anyway, iv kind of update my old layout

Heres the new one

Iv only changed the colour's of it and made the header a smaller height.

Also don't worry about the header i couldn't think of a design so i got got a brush and made a big blob on the canvas just to fil a hole.

Im going to add a drop shadow, rounded corners, good background, good header.


I would just like a bit of feedback on the colours (are they better) and maybe if anyone could give me a link to a site where i can learn how to do good headers and backgrounds, as i can't seem to find one.

Eh, Banjo - I like it too but I didnt make it Somebody else did, I just paid them for it.
Sometimes thats the easiest way.

looks nice, very good coding, but i could say the graphics be better, but that comes with time in photoshop

1) Was my first coded layout, obviously the graphics aren't that good.
2) Stop bumping OLD topics, look at the dates.

Also I could code it better now, that was a long time ago.
