no extreme changes, what are peoples opinions on the budget and Alastair Darling?
Jack
Cigarettes and alcohol, couldn't care about this, not a drastic increase.

Higher tax for top polluting cars is a good idea, hopefully stop those idiots driving 4x4's who simply don't need one.

First time buyers of houses certainly do need help in todays inflated housing market, but I fail to see how this would make much of a difference.

"rules for housing and council tax benefit will mean families on benefit are better off in work." - I doubt this.

"There will be a capital fund of £12.5m to encourage more women entrepreneurs." - waste of money.

"Laws will be introduced by 2009 to tax plastic bags if shops do not do more to charge for their use." - good idea.

Its mostly blah blah blah.

Yep, living in Montana (although this is a budget for a different country) I have a 4x4 because everything here is so isolated. You need bigger vehicles to get around (and not get stuck in the snow) - usually bigger automobile = bigger polluter = use more gas = more expensive to fill up.
