So i started creating a web page for my band, im pretty far along.
http://www.nascentdescent.zxq.net

If you look at that url, and navigate to the 'The News' Section of the site. I want to be able to add text to the 'News' section without having to go and rewrite the code every time. Is there a way i can do this? I dont want every one to be able to write on that section, only me. Does that make sense?

yes there are multiple scripts that let you do this (joomla, drupal) but i might be able to code you up something tonight if you want smile.gif

wozzym

There are also some simple news scripts out there if you just wanted something for one page. Otherwise, going with a CMS would probably be the easiest way to allow you to make changes without having to edit each page manually... of course you would have to either use a pre-made template for it or make your design into a template.

Like I said, there are plenty of scripts out there that can do just that. Just a quick google search results in numerous options available. www.hotscripts.com or similar sites are great for little things like that.

sorry not going to be able to finish it tonight but ill try. in the meantime i must recommend cute news. (google it)

Im not really seeing how fusion news will allow me to edit my page easily sad.gif.
I think its just i dont know how to use it.

I downloaded tortoise SVN, because it said that fusion news needs it to run, thats installed on my hard drive. Then I downloaded and unzipped fusion news, i uploaded all the files into a directory i create 'fusion news'. Now how to i edit my 'news' page?

There should of been an install page or maybe an admin page, When you locate it: Open your browser and type in your URL and then /admin.php whatever it is. Maybe then you can upload and edit news smile.gif

Hmmm, I suggest using CuteNews. I know you might not like the Copyright, You can either pay to get rid of it or just stick with it. It's simple and easy to use, Also. For the one you are using just now, Did you read the 'Read Me' file which came with it? It might give you a few tips or something there.

Something to do with the supplier then. Nothing we can do about it. Maybe leave them an email telling them that a file is missing. smile.gif
Also, I use YMnews.. I found it off a website created by a user on here.. Can't remember who though. I'll browse around for it smile.gif

http://www.fusionnews.net/index.php

You do not need SVN, its there if you want it so fusion news gets to the latest update in one button... i dont even know if they are upgrading... anyways

this is the correct download :

http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading..._mirror=surfnet

and yes there is an install inside fusion news... i have it , see it smile.gif redownloaded it smile.gif

Make sure you are not downloading the Upgrade only...

Well, Maybe try opening it via the FTP: If your using Core FTP Lite, Just double click on it and then check 'View' it might open up the actuall install.php smile.gif

Reason for edit: I found it! http://www.ymcodes.zzl.org/ <- Enjoy!!
