how do i get the IP address of my database???

please help!!! thanks.

Is this the zymic host?

If so then the 'hostname' is set to 'localhost'; otherwise I suggest you contact your host to request the hostname.

In most setups it will be set to 'localhost' though.

In some cases yes,
paid host's gives its users the ip of there DB but this is a free host so most likely not.
so i bet its just localhost.
or you can use off site mysql hosting(can give a really good one,but wont through a post)
Andrew
To make that a little clearer, when a script asks for the host or ip of the database ALMOST always it will be localhost
There are rare occasions when its random numbers like 54.65.122.45 but not here.

yes because here you couldnt really trust anyone with that information. Its a pretty risky thing.

Freehostia gives a url for the SQL server lol they seem pretty secure...

That's a URL though...

I'm not a hacker but cant the IP addressed be used to hack?

I use yahoo hosting - my mysql server is labled "mysql" instead of local host tongue.gif

If you are given a hostname for a database such as db23.thatdomain.com, it still has an IP it resolves to... so if you were to ping it... you would get that IP address. I know 1&1 has tons of database servers and when I had them, I pretty much never had more than 1 database on the same server. (I wouldn't recommend 1&1 to anyone though... gag)
