Creactive Update: 4/24/2008
Well as I'm sure most of you already know from my many posts I have re-done the layout of creactive to a simpler layout, though I must say that I do like the layout better. I'm still in the process of organizing all of my pages so the pages may NOT be simple and oranized yet, but they're under way.
BUT... That didn't stop me from adding a new service!
FORM EMAILER:
Alot of free web hosts (including zymic i believe) don't allow PHP emailing. This can become quite frustrating for those of you that would like to be able to receive emails from your customers. So Creactive Online has now made a simple service that has NO VISIBLE ADS (to your customers) and NO SIGNUP and is of course 100% free.
Just give the form a name, your email and a thank you page URL - PRESS A BUTTON and it's done! You receive your code to use as your "form action" along with directions on how to use the emailer.
This allows you to create a form with UP TO 10 fields (any type from textarea to selects to radios) that will be emailed to you once a user submits a form.
Upon submission an email will be sent to you and they will be re-directed to your thank you page with no visible ads!

Did this mainly for Outlaw but anybody is welcome to use it.
And i'm now working on a much more advanced syntax highlighter, that will (hopefully) be bug free.

Did you go to the "settings" page and try to do it there? On the chat room page you can't change it, it's just a demo of what your text is going to come out looking like (i'll put that on there sometimes today). You have to go to the settings page.

o ok. i was just making sure it worked on when you downloaded it too. i sense v3 sometime

also, i like how there are smilies now
Jetteh22
Apr 3 2008, 11:54 PM
LoL

Yes, there are smilies.. There were in the first version but I added a few more to this one.
Yes, version three will be coming after another project - this one will be an ideal choice for some people, while version two will still be an ideal choice for those who want to put it on their game or something

Also - I took someones advice and just changed the font to arial (i liked it more than verdana like they said) - It makes the text a bit bigger, but all in all i think it looks better than it did before.

about the site, everything looks good, but you really need to fix the navigation (looks crowded)
and you should give the updates a box around it also. (maybe)

Looks good, but like Emo said the navigation needs to be spaced out a bit as it looks pretty crammed up.

Okay I updated the menu so that the menu didn't overlap itself in firefox..
and i spaced the sections out a bit.
Better?
By the way, I appreciate all of the input from you guys. I said before, and i'll say it again - I don't find myself nearly as good with designing as I am at the actual coding

Without you it'd still be the first layout.. which sucked.

Apr 4 2008, 01:42 PM
there can still be more spacing in the navigation. between each subcategory. either that or buttons but thats another chunk of work
Valency
Apr 4 2008, 02:12 PM
I have to agree with Wozzy on this one: A little more space could be added.
As I said before, Very nice job. Keep up the good work!

You people are impossible to please.
But no, really - I don't understand what you're talking about lol. Everything looks fine on my end. Maybe it's just me. Tested in firefox and IE and it looks good?

Apr 6 2008, 06:48 PM
i dont know. it just doesnt seem to flow with the other colors...hmm
Jetteh22
Apr 6 2008, 07:30 PM
Ah i see. Well do you hav suggestions as to what I could change the colors to?

Apr 6 2008, 07:43 PM
I'm going to be honest with you... I don't love the layout.
The layout as a whole looks amatuerish and the colors/gradients are a bit steep. I agree that the navigation is too light and the inconsistent width looks the a bit weird. The header is alright but still looks a bit funny.
Jetteh22
Apr 6 2008, 08:33 PM
Thanks for your input. I'm not trying to make the site 100% "professional" though, so the way it looks "amatuerish" is OK with me. I am just trying to provide services that people can and will hopefully use (one day).
I said I'm not the best designer, so I had sniper fox do it for me - and I paid him because -i- love it. I made the width inconsistant on purpose, it's all centered to it looks fine to me.
The navigation I have to figure out what to do with, since everyone thinks it looks like poo lol.
By the way new update (again) - Added a new service, picture hosting (i know there are alot of them, but i figured I could add a simple one too) - No signing up or anything just put a picture (jpg, gif, png), hit upload and it spits out links at you (direct link, HTML, and bbcode).. It logs the IP address of every upload for legal purposes obviously :S
edit
And anyways... If you saw my first two you'd say it was alot better

(especially compared to the first one)

I passed by the second layout I think, The one before this one

I have to admit: Major improvment since then.
For the colour scheme, I suggest making it blend together with the rest of the template (Navigation bar)

Yeah, thats what I thought wazzym >:|
Lol i'm JP.. I just have to make them images instead, I figured out - "web safe colors" don't go with the layout at all, unless I keep it like it is.

Hah! Well now along with pictures .zip files and .txt files can be uploaded and hosted too.
And it seems the only graphics i'm good at making are ones that look cartoon-ey (lol like the clouds, ect.. i didnt make the pig i got him off google.com when i searched "flying pigs"! lol

Apr 14 2008, 03:09 PM
what did you use to animate it?
Jetteh22
Apr 14 2008, 06:10 PM
Imageready (though the pic was already a .gif i just inputed the two frames into imageready with my background)

Apr 14 2008, 06:21 PM
i think that the site just needs a new look on the navigation now
Jetteh22
Apr 14 2008, 06:39 PM
Are you thinking like roll-over image buttons for the navigation or just a new look? I tried changing the colors but the web-safe colors don't go with the site much. If I change them darker (which the next shade of dark gray for web safe colors will be the background color) they don't stick out -enough-.
wozzym
Apr 14 2008, 06:44 PM
well you could try image buttons. i think a mild grey/black would blend well. but its your site so your choice
Valency
Apr 14 2008, 10:34 PM
I agree: Roll over buttons would look rather funky on Creactive. I like the new template
Jetteh22
Apr 14 2008, 10:44 PM
Funky good or funky bad? lol
Valency
Apr 14 2008, 10:46 PM
Funky is good!
I like Funky Stuff.
Jetteh22
Apr 14 2008, 10:49 PM
LoL!
Okay, I'll probably look into making roll-over buttons then. If I can figure out something that looks similar to what I have now but better looking and blends in better i'll try to do it probably tonight sometime.
