What the hell is web 2.0 anyways?
I'm starting to see that damn phrase everywhere, and I still have no clue what it is.

Huh? I thought Web 2.0 is about interactive websites. Where people get people to work on the site.
Like networking sites eg. facebook.

To get this topic somewhat back on track, Web 2.0 refers to the new technology used on websites (like Facebook, as satu mentioned) that enables and encourages users to generate and share their own content.

/me nods to Valency. Sounds good to me.
And to Dannyboy.. I see. That makes sense.
Dunno why they have to give them their own term, can't just use "website"? Ugh.. Damn technical terms.

I guess it's just because as time goes on technology advances a lot and people need to be able to distinguish between older technology and newer technology. Why do they call them "iPods" and not just "MP3 players"? Because iPods can do a lot of things a regular MP3 players can't. Just the same as Web 2.0 can do a lot of things a regular website can't.

Hmm, as an example:
A few months ago I came across a website, with an actual start menu, text editor, news maps, even a bin to get rid of files! It was so realistic, I tought I was working in a real XP environment, while it actually was a website. It was amazing, I'm asuming that's Web 2.0, since it's so Interactive, things I've never seen on a regular website! Too bad I lost the link

I went on an Online Desktop frenzy. These are the ones in my favorites, No particular order (well maybe the order I found em)
https://desktoptwo.com/http://g.ho.st/http://www.peepel.com/http://www.goowy.com/http://www.eyeos.info/http://www.ulteo.comAnd just so you know I'm on topic, this is a very good example of Web 2.0 Especially since not all of these sites use Flash as their backbone.

Nope, what I have found was an even more realistic OS, almost identical to windows XP, only a little restyled. Haven't got the chance to view all your links tho
EDIT: Found more links

(And ye it's on topic, Web 2.0 ftw
