Today's Mother's Day smile.gif and the international organisation Save The Children has updated its annual global 'best countires for a mother' survey.

I only hope that the countries at the lower end of the list will get their priorities right...

If you visit the Save The Children site, you'll see that it has little to do with Mother's Day celebrations.

It is actually a survey that lists the countries according to various factors that make life easier for mothers.

These factors include availibility of healthcare, lifetime risk of maternal mortality, percentage of women using modern contraception, skilled attendant at delivery, female life expectancy, expected number of years of formal schooling for females and others.

This campaign is called the Mother's Day Report Card and its findings are published annually.
