Hello,
Many people ask about how to submit a template to our website. At the moment I usually just buy templates at a fixed fee, or design my own and then make some money from people paying to remove the footer copyright notice (Free templates by Zymic) etc.
I have thought about this new idea which would result in:
- You submit a template for FREE and we own ALL RIGHTS to the template. It is not your property any more.
- When submitted, you can specify a price for people who wish to remove the copyright. It would be recommended to be between $7.50-$10, but can be any amount. Each time someone automatically pays for the removal, 100% of the amount will be added to your balance.
- Although you submitted the design for free, you would be continually making money from copyright removals without any work what so ever.
- At the end of the month you will be paid 100% of all profits (minus paypal fees). We will not make anything from this.
- The better the design, the more money you will make.
Would you submit a template for free if this was the case? Do you have any suggestions? Please use the poll.

Hmmm... you could offer different payment options when a template is submitted. That being one of them... maybe another option could be some type of royalty... for every 10 download you get a certain amount of money? There is a risk factor there though. Something with more options. Because everyone loves more than one option

If our free template is already shared on a other site than zymic, can we submitted our template on zymic.
Luke
Oct 14 2007, 08:34 PM
you can if you still have ownership of it but i think you'd have to take it down from the other site... because once you give it to zymic... they own it. depending on what jack decides to do.

The template must be unique for zymic.

Colin, no sorry. Once you submit the template and we approve, we own all copyright. You may however list it in a portfolio, but offering if for download... especially without the zymic link backs would be breaking the agreement.

I would actually love to participate in that kind of program where we earn from copyright. I have couple of template that I wouldn't mind submitting.
Btw Jake - I also have account IamShipon1988 on this forum and site, is there anyway you can delete that one and change my login id on this one from TooSikWitIt to IamShipon1988? That account gave me problems with hosting request.

For me it would depend how many people download templates from your site. Can you tell me how many templates are downloaded each day?

Yea, I'm just curious about that.

this is true as with my hosting TOS..
whatever YOU UPLOAD to MY SERVERS become MY PROPERTY. Its just how it has to work in this new web world. But what ever you link to my servers is not...
But yea i would love to do this as long as in the copyright it said:

I like this idea.
Jack, what are the standards, as far as coding. Like does it have to be CSS/HTML or can we just do a full .psd layout and then they slice it and code it?

you really dont need to know that answer.... the answer you need to know is how well known will my temp be?
Zymic gets hit by all major search engines everyday.... the "hits" zymic gets is crazy enough, there alexa ranking is great and that word of mouth gets farther than you think, if i was going to do this, i would probably only do it either on my site or here.

No, no... it's not that. I was just curious

You seriously think I could actually make a template that people would want?

Hey you have some really good designs but the way you coded them aren't that great. I saw that some of the layouts don't line up too well and the boarders just disappear. Those are very simple fix. Once you get those issues resolved, they will look very nice.

i have noticed this too..
from my tests (the ones i tried at least)
you have valid CSS, but not HTML.
making your template XHTML will not just make their coding beautiful, but will help you with design jobs in the future etc.

Hi, if we make a Template and give it to Zymic should we then make the copyright in the footer to be like all the other zymic templates? example: "© Copyright 2007 all rights reserved. Free Template by www.zymic.com." ?

Wouldn't it be like:
© Copyright 2007 All rights reserved. Free template by XXXXX of www.zymic.com
Instead of the XXXXX if would be the template's designer's name?

I would definitely submit my own templates if I got paid! This is easy marketing out here. What kind of takes me back is that many people on the web are dishonest. What if people just downloaded and removed copyright on the template without paying? This is the one thing that is a draw back. Has Zymic gotten copyright removal requests on any of their templates so far? If so, around how many? I doubt there's much unfortunately.

Haha...I haven't really finished my last two jobs...I was looking for a replacement until now. I looked at the request and realized the employer is out of his mind. He wanted a stupid community site (like friendMaker - a site from back in the day) but wants it to be exactly like his vision, he was only willing to pay 300. I called him up and said, DUDE you are out of your mind. It's crazy, site like that costs over thousand. When I coded friendmaker back then, it took me and my friends almost 2 months and I was not upto coding something like that again. Plus that guy wasn't willing to buy a server.
But that idea of yours EMO sounds really good. I would love to help

Dear Jack,
Both of the ideas are great. I think you should give everyone the options to get a one-time payment OR be paid per copyright removal.
I can definitely design layouts for this awesome website, just let me know if this does go through. My website is
www.rebeldesigns.zxq.net. I applied for a free domain through this website but no response yet, so hence the reason it is still a sub domain lol.

I would definitely submit templates for free. I don't really care right now if i get any of the money. I may possible care in the future when i could possibly need money. But this could help out with my web design. I could see how good i really am and get comments from the general public on what i need to work on.

Does it have to be fully coded with valid XHTML and CSS or just a .psd file?
