I once worked for an answering service where we answered for a few "pediatric" clinics. I remember, still to this day, ALOT of calls that I received that just made me blink and say to myself, "Wow.. I can't believe they let this person have a baby." The things people do, how stupid they are.
For instance, one call I received I still remember is:
"My kid has a 106 fever, what should I do?" - Take it to the EFFING emergency room!? We're not allowed to give medical advice so my response is "Let me have a nurse call you back..." That generally takes 15-20 minutes. Fevers that high can cause brain damage if i'm not mistaken.
Another one is...
"I wasn't watching my kid and when I found him in the kitchen he had bug spray next to him and his breath smells like bug spray. What do I do?" ... Wait - So first off you ADMIT you weren't watching your toddler. Second he has bug spray next to him and Third.. HIS BREATH SMELLS LIKE BUG SPRAY!? WTF.. Take him to the ER or call poison control, holy shit dumbass.
And my favorite...
"My child fell and put her front tooth through her bottom lip. She's bleeding pretty badly. I'm sitting infront of the emergency room inside my car, and I wanted to ask the nurse if I should go INSIDE the emergency room or just take her home..." Okay.. Let's recap.. Her kid is bleeding "pretty badly" and your "infront of the emergency room" but... You want to ask a nurse if you should go inside??
Now, I'm sorry.. I know there are people out there who are just to worried to think straight but my god.. How dumb are these people?
My idea for this is the following:
If somebody is pregnant and they have a baby. WHILE the baby and the mother are both still in the hospital, the mother should be REQUIRED to take a test. They should have to study for it while pregnant, ect, and be REQUIRED to take a written test in the hospital, before they take their baby home.
If they pass, the keep the baby.
If they fail, the baby goes up for adoption.
I dont think that seems like such a bad idea. There are many people who CANT have babies who would love to have a baby, who would be MUCH better mothers than some of the ones we have now.
"What do you do if your kid is bleeding badly from the mouth and your infront of a hospital in your car, in the parking lot?
A) Go inside of the hospital

Call your nurse to -see- if you should go inside the hospital
or
C) None of the above"
DOH - B!!!
Not.
Anybody have any views on stupid parents?
What you are suggesting is too dramatic of a solution. Yes, I hear and understand your concern but the solution you suggest towards it is too dramatic. People don't need that kind of action even if it's done in the thoughts of doing some good. But if you weigh it down, you are actually doing something very bad. What if Edison (The inventor) was not born? (Like abortioned or something)?
In my view, abortion is the same as killing except you are killing a person
before the person is born and by law, murder is illegal. Reading this you are thinking I am against abortion and you are right... I am against abortion. Although I am not so hard-core against it (I wouldn't rally or something) I don't think you should do such an act.
Not only all that but it would raise anger throughout the country. There are already enough anger toward abortionists and abortion clinics and you wouldn't want to raise that. As an example (I forgot most of the details though), there were some activist (some time ago... possibly in the '90s) who were arrested because they were trying to do something to an abortion clinic (Don't remember what).
I know a few people (friends with them actually) who hate the act of abortion. They were banned on wikipedia for posting biased topics that are anti-abortion and probably flaming people who like that.
I agree with Valency on this for the most part. The "pregnancy test" is the same as a lie detector... unreliable and shouldn't be used to judge. People may act differently when something actually happens than how they say they will when a scenario is giving to them.
About abortion (A little off-topic but on the same path), like I said, it's the same thing as murder. Valency was saying about giving a mother a chance and than later on said that we are thinking "What about the child?..." Yeah, why don't you guys give the child a chance
I hope I didn't offend anyone by this post or anything, but this is my view on this controversial topic.
