Okay, I've been in this world of web development for several years and now feel I am ready to start earning money with it. Does anyone have a good way of making money online...? I'm 14 years old so that gives me a lot of disadvantages but I've been told I shouldn't let that slow me down so I'm going to make an attempt... at what? I have no idea! I have basic html, css, some php skills. Anyone have any idea?

Thanks,
Luke

try google.. email some companys etc, and have a portfolio site(to show off your work!).

i normally find some stuff on these:

umm affiliation is good, make sure you get good with web dev sites...

Also like iamandy said, making a portfolio site is good...

^^ mine, tho not as updated as it should be!
Luke
alright thanks guys.... I haven't been involved with too many projects so I guess I should do some work before I make a portfolio smile.gif Oh and I never feel confident about freelancing... I feel like I won't finish the job or when I do it'll look bad or not be what they want.
iamandy
freelance is always good thing.. plus its work to put on your site.

just put work up that you've coded and examples of designs that you've done. I'm pretty sure that will do untill you've done afew projects. then you add them to your folio, obviously.

also, if anyone wants to link with me.. give me a message!
Luke
Shouldn't I be worried about messing it up? Cause I'm not confident in what I can do! I still have work to do on my coding and designing! I still have so much to learn... there's always a hundred more things you can learn about everything.

You could still do work for practice and not put it on your portfolio, unless you think it is good enough.

If you're not confident in what you do, why would you feel you're ready to start making money doing what you do?
Luke
I feel like I've been around so long that I should start to try to make money off of it... instead of doing nothing!

the best way is to look at the interwebs and see whats not been done yet. start there. Or find something and try to make it better.

for examples...

Dude, the huddletogether guy wrote lightbox before that orangoo crap

http://www.lokeshdhakar.com/

also, there is no new content on the internet, as I just demonstrated everything is a repost/rip of everything else (in concept, not nessecarily in layout design although with millions of websites out there there are bound to be some kind of similiarities in some.)

actually if you want to argue, yes LightBox did come out first, but is crap for various reasons.

1. dosnt load right in all browsers
2. page has to COMPLETELY finish before lightbox works
3. Lightbox is limited to only images, if you want more, you have to switch to thickbox

and also, i never said GREYBOX came out first, so why are you implying i did?

One more thing, i put greybox as orginal becayse IT DOSNT USE lightbox coding and IT DOES IT ALL not just images.
Magnus
its the same concept, lightbox could be used for websites as well, but that is basically turning it into a spam machine.

give me some browsers that lightbox doesn't "load right" in and i'll give you some outdated worthless browsers that need better rendering engines

anyways, making a CMS by yourself doesn't mean the concept of a cms is original

Lightbox sometimes does not load right in IE 6 & 7and FF1 & FF2 due to various coding issues.....

exactly, Joomla and php-nuke are DIFFERENT and are both ORIGINAL in there own way, like LightBox and Greybox (tho Highslide is coming up to beat them)
