hi,
when i try to upload an extension with extension module manager of joomla, it show me an error like:

QUOTE
Error! Could not find an XML setup file in the package.

then a list of warning like:

QUOTE
Warning: stream_wrapper_register() has been disabled for security reasons
Warning: fopen(buffer://tmp) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /www/99k.org/p/i/s/pistantella/htdocs/libraries/joomla/client/ftp.php on line 951
Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource
Warning: rewind(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource
Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource

And more...and more...and more...

My questions are:
  • I understand that, for security reason, some function are disabled but is there any kind of method to install an extension in joomla cms? And, if there is, how it works?
  • Will be zymic.com 100% joomla compatible soon?

There was an error uploading this file to the server.
Unable to find install package

I've tried, from advice finded in joomla official forum's support, to make session.php writable, set off the FTP option in the global configuration, make writable all those folder listed in administation>help>sytem info>Directory Permissions...but nothing...

Is there anyone can give me a solution?

I've just installed joomla & tried to add addons with same problem. Trying to figure this out myself. Has to be a work around someway. All these security precautions sure dont help my site load faster... The one with just php and 3 images..

The problem is this function - file_put_contents disabled. If you make the directories listed in administation>help>sytem info>Directory Permissions as writable it show this message when you try tu upload an extension: "Warning: file_put_contents() [function.file-put-contents]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect." If anyone can allow this function maybe the extension can be installed, I hope.

The extension can be installed manually by uploading and then in the installer Put the path in the Install from directory box
gingoba
Please enter a package directory

is what I get when I do the manual install of extenstions using the path directory of tmp in my case.
