Ok.
Some new updates regarding RetroHost.
I have implemented WHMCS, for automatic registration, I'm now a Directi Domain Reseller, so now I offer domain names for registration and transfer and renewal.
In about a day or two, the whole website will be 128-bit SSL secured for protecting your personable information.
There will also be a new Promo called "RetroPromo Reboot".
Reseller's are now avalible!
Any suggestions on where I can start advertising (not so expensively), so I can actually go more mainstream here.
Also, I will be implementing a forum there - to lift the load of support tickets, and to make a sense of community. Also for people to ask presale questions and ask current customers how they like it at RetroHost. Would this be a good idea, or a bad one? Also forum software to use?
I'm actually using WordPress as a CMS (lol i know right?), but it is actually working out well. I'm using a professional licensed template called "NotePad"...you can also get this template free, but there is a credit line in the footer. It was also really easy to integrate WHMCS into the the theme too. I really want your thoughts on this.
P.S.
I'm looking into getting a dedicated in the future, when I get a client base that can support the costs. (I'm really not in this for the money, because I've forked out about $175 in SSL, WHMCS, Directi Registrar, and other things). Just want to give people the best for their money.
Thanks.

Thanks for your nice comments.
Any more feedback would be lovely.
I added a PayPal certified logo to the footer, domain availability, and rearranged it a bit.
The SSL will be installed today - and it will secure the customer portal and login.
Thanks.
(Should I use a WP Forum plugin, or use an actual forum software? The forum software would require a lot of time customizing, and I know a forum plugin that is based off your style.css).
Thanks.

What about a background?

I agree...
I love the layout but put a simple gradient for the background...
Like instead of it just being WHITE make it white and VERY light gray gradient.. Would spruce it up just a tad and still look good

It looks more over a blog to me. Needs structure i feel.
I preferred your old (dark / blue) layout, it looked more Unique and really professional... like you were so IN to the web hosting !

I have a quick question, off topic for reviews...
Say I went ahead and bought hosting from you..
What would happen if YOUR reseller account was disabled for non payment or something? Woudl all of your customers get disabled too, or would they float over to the other company?
Just wondering. Not afraid that would happen but I was always curious about these reseller accounts and how they worked.

Ok let me address some questions,
I had to change layouts - because it would make it easier for me to integrate WHMCS with a new layout.
@Jetteh: If I fail to pay the bills, your hosting account would not be lost (That would never happen; as I have this in one of my priorities in my budgeting).
I'll get rid of the top gray bar at the top - redo some fonts, and apply a gradient. How does it look like a blog?
Thanks,
Paranoid.
EDIT: Ok. I added a slight gray gradient.

A lot better, the borders makes it structure, probably go for a logo and i guess you'll be just like GoDaddy ! (almost!)
To continue asking (off review) :
You said they are not lost, but where they go ? i mean how it works ?

But what? I would like to know.
@Mr. Touz- Everything would remain online - you just wouldn't have access to your cPanel, and your WHM (If you had a reseller plan) and I wouldn't have access to my Master WHM. Let me reiterate the fact that this would never happen.

Anybody willing to design a logo that'll fit the color scheme? You will be fully accredited with a link back to your website.
Jetteh22
Jul 19 2008, 07:22 PM
Alrighty, yeah it's still missing something..
I would make the gradient larger... Like 500px high so it' GRADUALLY turns to white.
Make the gray part of the gradient just a little lighter
EDIT: I wasn't accusing you or anything, it was just my curiousity about all reseller plans, not just yours. Trust me, if I didnt pay for 2 years hosting already at LunarPages I would definately have bought a good year from you but I won't need hosting until 02/10

Make the gradient longer and do the serif font as a image so it looks aliased. Maybe a font like Day or the one you have. A logo would look good too.

Alright I did those and changed the layout up a bit.
The shopping cart, support ticket, and client area are all SSL secured for added security purposes.
Tell me what you think about the layout change.

Also the Resellers are now available to order, as well as the Premium Backup Service.

Still wishing I didn't pay for 2 years at lunarpages so I could switch over to you and help you out a bit.

Yep - We're growing, slowly but surely we're establishing a nice customer base. I think we got around 3k unique visitors yesterday, and around 10 emails from potential clients, and 1 actual signup. I'm working on our conversion rate. Most of the emails are like "Can you easily transfer all my files, because I wanna switch to you really bad", or questions about server configuration, and how php is setup (suphp is awful by the way - a lot of my new clients are transferring to me because their old host used suphp. Suphp is some kind of secure php but it messes up a lot of scripts I guess and outputs 500 errors).
WHMCS is also a godsend, it keeps me organized and its really great. Definitely worth the $15/month. The SSL also is great because it adds more security and it helps reassure clients that we care about their personal information. Overall I think we're doing good.
Oh ya, I forgot to answer the questions about being a direct host/reseller. We're considered a direct host as we own both star and oodiistar (yup we purchased a new server, and looking to get a third dedicated server soon). I have full ROOT access, and control everything technical related to the server. Even though the hostnames are star.hostnsurf.net and oodiistar.hostnsurf.net - I own them (HostnSurf is owned and operated by my sister - she initially purchased the servers and gave them to me).
Thanks.

Yeah I know what you mean about the WHMCS, but I hate when people just randomly rest out the form and post nothing but "asdfad" text. I was looking through your site and realized that you are using cPanel and WHM. I have a kick-ass cPanel login script that a friend from akismet gave to me as a beta project if you want. I don't think they offer it for download anymore. You can see a demo of it on the Account Login portion on
this site.
Out of curiosity how can you afford to offer unlimited reseller? I can never offer that to my customers as I know they will use all the space granted. (Just as Brandon who was using nearly 50% of his space).

RetroHost has been growing, rapidly I might add. Therefore I've registered and moved RetroHost over to something more official;
http://rewindd.net.
The move was because RetroHost is growing into something new, and professional...and we desperatley need to get out of the .info TLD. I grabbed the first opportunity, and there it is.
There is also planned to be an affiliate program launching in mid September, as visitors have been wanting me to implement one.
Rewindd.Net has a new layout, improved coding, and is overall a pretty large upgrade. Please tell me what you think about the change, and if you have any further questions regarding anything related to RetroHost (Rewindd).
Thanks.

I also like the new layout and domain paranoid. One thing that bothered me is I got stuck in the Client area, no way to get back to the home page from there. (and I use ff3 and didn't realize it opened in a new tab, so I didn't want to close the tab...)
Anyways I also like rewindedd.com even though your not affiliated with them I like the guys designs. Some nice stuff there.

Yes. Me and Louis (Rewindd.com) plan on working something out, since both of us have the same brand name. I contacted him before I bought it; and he said go for it

We have plans in the future working together, it was not just a coincidence that I renamed and reinvented RetroHost, Rewindd.
EDIT: I'm still working on integrating WHMCS Client Area theme into my layout. But I needed to quickly move, thats why it has a much simpler layout, and that's why it opens up in a new window for now. Sorry 'bout that.
