Hey guys, im intending to set up my own hosting services in about 1 or 2 years' time, but i'm still a newbie at this rite now, wanna know more. Anyone know where i can buy domain names without a 3rd party? smile.gif

Thats needs ICANN accreditation.

But they only authorise a few registrars per country (or part of the world)

If you check with them you'll see some big names missing, in fact most of the big domain registering companies you know of are 3rd party resellers!

oh, so if im to set up my own webhosting, if the customer wants to pay for the hosting + domain name, i'll have to buy the domain name from the registrar companies?

Yes, the registrars make it quite easy to become a domain 'reseller' and its normally invisible to your customers.

The customers only see your website and logo.

oh, thx alot. (: I just figured out I bought "Sapphiro.net" through a local webhosting company, which bought the domain name from godaddy.com registrar.. tongue.gif guess i'll just buy domain names straight from the registrar next time. biggrin.gif
