Hi guys, I have this dilemma!

I've recently copied my own article, written by my self, originally titled "Submitting to web directories is useless job?!" from my own website, and I've published it on GoArticles.com as my own article, because it really is my... The article was about web directories, and how really is helpful submitting to them, titled as "Web Directories - helpful or useless?!". Couple of days later I've posted on some other blog, something related with previous article, and have linked to it too... Eventually, I've got a few replays with advices in form like: it is NOT recommended to duplicate (copy and past) any content, no matter if I am author or not, because it might be taken for a copyright violation... They have also quoted a few examples for instance how Google was referred to the similar cases they have...
At first I was surprised, and wondered how is that possible... I mean, if I wrote something, and I am author of the particular article, then I have right to duplicate it as much as I like too?! But, in the other hand, I don't have reason question these theories. They have tried to support it by some evidence?!

However, I know, for example, Googlebot has very powerful history storage, so they can easily trace who is writing what, and which article appears first, which later?!
But, what if... what if search engine wasn't cache my article first... what if search engine cache copy of the article fist then original... who knows??? Everything is possible!!!

So, I ask you people, what do you think about this dilemma? If I duplicate my own content... am I still an author, or just another "replicator" huh.gif

I think that since u are the author, u have the right to copy it anyway u please. Ridiculous wat can be claimed

If you are the author then you are the owner of the intellectual copyright on the article. Unless you submit it somewhere where you are (by their terms) giving up owner ship of the article you retain that ownership, and can do whatever the hell you like with it. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, I understand what does Copyright, or Intellectual Rights mean from a human perspective... I was talking about search engine, googlebot, a machine... I was asking You, and my self too, is it possible that Search Engine got confused somehow and penalizes author for copying of his own content?! Is it possible that Search Engine somehow mixes up whole thing?!
After all... it is a God damn machine we talking about!

I'd like to see those examples!

It sounds like nonsense to me.

A google bot only checks for repetition on the page its indexing.
Anyway it has no way of assigning 'ownership' and certainly does not compare different sites!

If google had this ability that would solve all the image, movie, mp3 and exam paper copying problems overnight! ohmy.gif

If you wrote it. It's yours.

It's your work, you can do what you wish with it. Whether that be get it laminated or copy it from forum to blog to website.

Well,

I think your problem is that you need to license your work (article) so that you be officially the copyrights holder of this article and any one says anything you can show your license to let 'em shut up.

Its better if you have your work copyrighted at the government so that you can even use that in court if needed
im offering another (free) license which will not ask you for your copyright registration as they have their ways to see if this work is copyrighted or not, if not you can license it, if its copyrighted you have to show your copyrights registration!

What you need:

Creative Commons License (its free)
it allows you to set the permissions for using this work such as:

-Allow commercial uses of your work?

Useful Links:

As long as you didn't sign away your rights when you published the article on that site then it's yours. You have to be careful with article subs because there are so many sites out there that just aggregate and put CPC stuff up. There are probably more copies out there by now. Scrapers. hunter.gif

Funny when some people and groups copyright others materials and assumes it as their own and they sometimes end up having it hurt them in the long run because they didnt know the interpretation of it. software, music, videos, writings, and etc. is a different story though.

This is a very old topic. wink.gif
