Its the part where they ask the dsn...or database server hostname...i dont know what it is...pls help me..really fed up

I have experiance with smf but i am new to phpbb.....What is Dsn And what should i put there...

not localhost i tried..and also i tried another host..hyperphp.com and then using auto installer i installed phpbb3 and in the DSN feild i put this :
sql108.hyperphp.com
This is the mysql hostname..and it worked..but i still want a forum here and not there at hyperphp...so pls help me...

I believe installing phpBB3 you can just leave this field blank.

If you cannot connect to the database it could be a different issue. Make sure your database name and username are as short as possible (only 2/3 letters in length).

no luck dudes....i used localhost....then i tried leaving it blank...then i tried to make the DATABASE AND OTHER USERNAME SMALL....then i tried with all these in different combinations..none of them worked..

You have actually set up a database first and applied user privilages haven't you?

When you say 'none of them worked' can you be more specific.. maybe a screen shot of what you are getting and we might be able to help.

Also please give your site's address as outlined in the rules.

Firstly edit your post and remove your password... never post that direct in the forum.

What is the zymic address of your account .. are you using a vndv.com subdomain?

It is definitely either your database/username/password that is the problem.

Check these things:
Are your database name and username really both burningdownloads_b?
Is your password 100% correct?
Have you applied the user privileges (when you created the database) in your control panel?

everything is a yes..dude..i told you..i have installed phpbb3 in hyperphp.com..and i am pretty sure the problem is the inavailability of the mysql hostname or DSN or database server name.....
input is perfectly right..no mistakes...all priviliges assigned...

Database server field and database port fields can both be left blank. If anything the host would be localhost although phpBB3 assumes this if you leave it blank anyway.

If want me to double check everything is correct for you I am happy to (PM me).

Your only other option is to speak to an admin as it might be a problem specific to your account.
